birthing classes for 2nd baby

Did/Are you going to go to any paid for birthing classes for your 2nd baby?

I'm considering paying £80 for a birth-day workshop through bath birth. Four years ago I attended NCT birthing classes to have my son. These were very beneficial. I'm concerned it will be a waste of money to do it again?

Thanks

I decided to just sign up to my local free NHS second timer work shop for any tips they can offer and of course its always great to discuss labour with other people that are actually interested. whenever i start talking about it to dh his eyes glaze over

the course you have signed up to deals with water births right? so i guess that will be different to your nct class and you will learn waht you need to know so cant see it as a waste of money.

i paid to attend an active birth workshop which i found fantastic and worth every penny first time around but i remember it all and still have the handouts so did not bother with anything else.

plus most people i know sho did nct found it just useful for other mums to mee which they dont really need 2nd time.

I never made it to them with my first so didn't bother with number 2!

Hi,
Ah, it's the way I've phrased it BathBirth is in the town called Bath, sorry, not water birth. Although I am considering using our bath at home, but I won't hire one.

Hmm, I can remember the breathing and vaguely the visualisation from NCT, but I wonder whether going over it again will be good to get our minds ready to give birth. Plus, we're planning a homebirth so we need to know what we're doing a bit more than last time.

BathBirth is more of a yoga based birth. I'm also planning on getting some of the homeopathy kit, arnica etc...

I attend the prenatal yoga through BathBirth, so maybe this will be enough. I kinda want my dh to be more immersed in it to prepare him. I ended up having an epidural last time due to needing a drip because of 3 day labour. So it was calmer than non epidural birth. Hopefully this time it will be faster and I want to be somewhat in control and not screaming the house down.

I went to my local NHS class, I contacted them and they booked me in, it was only two morning classes quite near my due date but I found it entertaining as we swapped stories and where able to ask questions about what we knew could actually happen this time whereas the first time you are going in blind!!

i went when pregnant with dd2 but as I never attended an antenatal classes prior to having dd1 by c-section, I figured I needed some info about labour and birth - hoping for a vbac. I did not attend the home with baby ones though.

My SIL did the refresher day and she only had 2 years between her two births.

i had a similer problem with the second. my first was born before i had the chance to go to any ante natal or parenting classes, but as i was in the wonderful city of milton keynes at the time, i wasnt allowed a space in ANY antenatal, parenting or other classes second time round. if i had had the money i would have gladly paid up and gone, it was like the first proper pregnancy and birth, but i already had a 2yr old, if that makes sense.!!!!!
