As labour I mean! I have strep b so meant to go to hospitaol as soonm as labour starts for anto biotics but having trouble deciding if it is starting despite this being my second.

The pain started last night but just dull pre period type achiness which lasted all day then this evening the pains started seeming seperate and have intensified-some are really bad but mostly quite manageable. And the timings are all over the plcae, 8 mins.11 mins. 3 mins 12 mins. With some tight feelings across my back in between.

Baby wriggling around too.

Some people never have regular timings.

With my first I called in once they came every 5 minutes lasting a minute.

Second time around they were irregular for 5 hours like yours then suddenly went to 2 minutes apart, by the time I got to the car my waters broke and I started pushing!

Phone the hospital, they will likely tell you to come in.

My timings were all over the place too. I didn't believe it was labour for that very reason!

Currently holding 2 week old DS!

Obviously went to hospital eventually but only got examined and offered gas and air at 6cm. Partly due to me not insisting on exam as I believed the midwifes when they said contractions had to be regular for it to count

Same with me. I had dd a week ago. Contractions were irregular all day, anything between 3 - 12 mins apart eventually went to hospital , in agony, where was put on a monitor for 45 mins and told I'd most likely be sent home. Finally they examined me and I was FULLY dilated! Then finally got gas and air, such relief! Dd born an hour later

Thanks all. Not sure what happened but they got further apart then I fee asleep!Woke up an hour ago and they have stopped, just feel the periody ache now. Just phoned assessment unit as hdnt felt movement but they advised me to lie down which I have and have now felt some. They said I can come in if worried but that early labour can stop and start so probably normal. Am a wreck and really disappointed that all that pain didn't get to anything.

My midwife told me that all the false starts with DD2 were getting my body ready for labour and would make it all quicker when it did get underway. So cling on to that thought and good luck!

used2bthin · 09/06/2012 05:38

Thank you. Still achey but nothing major happening now. Tempted to get up but know I'll be useless for the rest of the day if I do. Really thought that was labour.

I know it isn't what you want to hear now, love: but every contraction brings you closer to the birth.

Try & take your time & just go with the flow, as far as labour is concerned, x.

Deep, slow breaths & as much rhythm as you can manage; Just try & be calm & it will be ok. x

best of luck used2bethin

Much love & best wishes,

xxxxx

Thanks I really hope things start up again today. At least I have had some sleep. Have had another two pains in the last hour but not as severe as last nights ones had got.

As I typed that another one came but again very manageable.

I'm not an expert Used*

everything sounds lovely & normal & taking, its own healthy place,

Congratulations & salutations to anybody that didn't hear the full greeting.

ZhenThereWereTwo · 09/06/2012 09:16

Glad you have felt movement, your body obviously knew it needed sleep before you went into full on labour so slowed it down for you. If you go for a walk when you are ready things will probably kick start again.

used2bthin · 09/06/2012 11:41

Thanks, I hope it starts up again, no sign yet and have just slept again. Yes thank goodness the baby is moving ok now. I am going to carry on as normal now and see what happens, will try and get a walk in too good plan.

I am similar. Due today and have had period cramping with some contraction like-peaking on and off for the last few days, just coming and going... thought it was starting to kick off two nights ago but nothing at all since. Labour is a mystery to me!
