Is it normal for BH to disappear towards 'the end'?

I'm 39 weeks with first baby. I had quite long and hefty BH fairly regularly from about 25 weeks, but haven't had any for a couple of weeks now. Aren't they supposed to get stronger? I have had some tummy pains during the night but they seemed more like muscle/ligament strain as I tried to roll over! Plus my bump hasn't 'dropped' yet either, does that always happen before labour starts? I know you can't guess when the baby's going to arrive but does anyone think it sounds like I'm not ready yet?!

I have come to the conclusion that babies and bumps do what they damn well want, tbh. If you can still feel baby movements you're probably fine, but if in doubt phone your MW. Some lucky women never notice braxton hicks and others are plagued by them.

I am also 39 weeks and all I know is that this pregnancy is so different to my previous one that I might as well be pg for the first time again...

You can go to 42 weeks and you could go into labour tonight or in 3 weeks. Only time will tell.

But if you are worried, call the MW. They are well used to pg women calling up to ask this sort of question.

Hmm yes that's kind of the impression I get off people, all pregnancies are different and baby will come when it feels like it! I saw my MW last Friday but never got round to asking as she couldn't feel the baby' position properly (apparently my uterus is heart shaped and hard to palpate) and sent me off for a scan! Thankfully we are head down otherwise I would be having ELCS on Thursday! Just wish I knew when it was coming as I have stuff to sort out first!! Dammit will find out one way or the other in the next, ooh, 3 weeks!

Just re-read that, apologies for the exclamation mark overload.

We are allowed exactly as many exclamation marks as we deem fit at 39 weeks! Go for it!!

And all anyone is allowed to say about it or anything else is, "Can I get you some more icecream?".

Cydonia · 21/05/2012 22:43

I've done well, no ice cream today!

And why not? Mind you, I only managed one of the ice lollies I am trying to save for labour. Hardly making an effort here, am I?
