Period following lochia?

Hi all, I had an ELCS on April 19th (4 weeks 4 days ago) any my lochia had almost stopped: a bit sticky in consistency and pale brown in colour.

Cue 2am this morning when I woke to feed DD2. Went to the loo and passed a bright red blob about the size of a 10p coin. Fresh blood on the pad, too.

Not being one to worry (ha!) I phoned the hospital where she was born as I thought it was the start of a PPH (been more active over last few days - walking more, doing more around the house. Really have been feeling it, too).

The lovely, lovely midwife said that it was probably my period: blood would be flowing/gushing if it was PPH. DD has been bottlefed since day 5 so the hormones that would delay menstruation are absent.

Great, phew, but I'm quite shocked that this could actually be my period! DD1 (b. 2009 VB) was also bottlefed from the same point, but my lochia had completely stopped before my period came at 6 weeks.

How common is this sudden return amongst any of you lovelies out there? Lunar seeks reassurance

Well, I excessively breastfed DD and my period arrived pretty much as yours has. I think I may have had 3 days free so to speak. I feel cheated!

OMG! Were you worried? I was on the verge of freaking out last night which is why I called the hospital.

No, DD was my third - I was just pissed off!

My periods returned quickly with the others too so I wasn't concerned, just not this quickly. I twigged fairly quickly that it was most likely my period and nothing sinister.

I ff my DS so should have known my period would come back early, but I reacted similarly to you Blush didn't call midwives though, wasn't a problem once I had the lightbulb moment apart from DH thinking it was the green light to start thinking about no2

Yes, my DH wants to get back in the sack too as DD2 was a planned exit via the sunroof but I'm not so keen to get jiggy quite so soon!

Hmmm, as the day is progressing, the flow is getting lighter (good: at least it's not heavier) but it's no longer fresh blood. Back to light flow and pinky brown colour. Might this still be a period? Or was the blood perhaps a sign of having overdone it with walking yesterday?

I would phone the hospital again but don't feel this really warrants me calling. I'm still a bit bothered by last night, tbh.
