Birth pool at home - new or second hand?

Title says it all really, is it really necessary to buy a new pool or are second hand ones ok? I know that the inflatable ones make the price a lot more reasonable than they used to be but surely there must be people out there who have pools they didn't get around to using etc (or is that just wishful thinking? Smile )

What do you think?

I bought mine 2nd hand from eBay and it's going back on there when DS gives me 5 minutes to do a proper listing!

Smile could you maybe send me a link when you do? Smile

Do you mind me asking how much you paid for it and what you had to buy extra (liners etc)?

Thanks!

We hired ours, can't remember for the life of me why, but there was a good reason.

LOADS of women buy a new pool then don't get to use it, either because baby arrives before it's full, or before the water is right temp or they transfer in to hospital or change their mind about using a pool.

I have two friends who various combinations of the above have happened to - one of them twice! So I'm certain many pools for sale won't ever have been used but even if they have it would very likely only have been used once so still in very good nick.

i hired one, it was from a local birth group and loads of people had used it, just bought a new liner :)

I paid £60 I think. Was unused and had a liner, all we bought was a submersible pump to get the water out with (My dad still used just a bucket as I'd transferred to hospital and DH I think forgot to mention it!)
