Is this a 'show' ... And should I be worried or finish packing my bag? (TMI warning)

Knowledgeable MN ladies, please help a first timer! I am 38+6 and am freaking out a bit. I just went to the loo and my panty liner had pinkish / slightly brownish mucus on it (sorry for grossness).

It's definitely not fresh blood and it's stopped now.

Is this a bloody show? Should I finish packing my hospital bag? Or do you think it is something to worry about and should I call the MW / hospital? I don't have any cramps and I feel fine otherwise.

I am a bit freaked as I tend to panic with any bleeding (first pregnancy) so any thoughts or advice would be gratefully received!

Thank you

Smile

Sounds like the start of things. How exciting! I'd pack your bag and see what happens over the next few hours. No reason not to call the midwife to get their opinion. Keep us updated!

I think that is a show, I'm a first timer too but not had a show yet Envy I think it would be good to finish packing but from what I've heard a show can be hours or weeks before labour so no reason to panic straight away.

Sounds exactly like a show IME. Pack a bag, but no need to phone anyone yet. Good luck! :o

Thank you! I think I will start packing put the finishing touches to my bag and then take it easy and see what happens. And I'll keep you posted!

Eeeeek!

Thanks for your replies,

xx

I had my show over a week ago now and still nothing Sad

Yep that's a show Grin. Good luck, although do be advised that you could still go a week or two after the show - everyone's different. I only had a show on the day of DD's birth, but then I was 40+6.

Then I bled like crazy through the whole of active labour...

Ooooh! That deffo sounds like a show. Things are happening...but... it could be even be days yet, especially if you've no pains.

If I were you I would call the midwife and let her know you've had a show just to keep her in the loop. It's helpful to them to be in the know in advance that you may need them soon, particularly as you're not at 40 weeks yet they may not be expecting you!

Yes that's a good point re the MWs, I will give them a call to let them know. I will also finish my 'to do before LO arrives' list and then, if I do have a long wait, at least I'll know it'll all be done and I can spend the time eating chocolate relaxing.
