Second pregnancy advice

Hello

I would be grateful for some advice/perspectives please

I had my first child 8 months ago by semi-elective CS. I was 2 weeks overdue, tried induction but didn't work. I had 24hrs of gel etc but cervix still hard, completely closed so they couldn't break my waters. I was given the choice of more gel or a CS and so I opted for the CS as didn't think more gel would work at all. Consultant said later baby was on large side with a large head and so was possibly too large to come down and put pressure on cervix.

I would really like another baby soon but I find myself getting really worried about delivery options......do I have a good chance of VBAC? Just worried I will end up in same situation - with a failed induction for post-dates again.

Know I'm not even pregnant yet but this is playing on my mind

Thanks

I would try not to worry about it. Every pregnancy, every birth and every baby is different. Size can vary, and position can have an even bigger effect. You could go into labour naturally, much earlier, have no interventions. As long as there's no complications from last time that would mean they weren't happy for you to go for VBAC, then there's no reason if should go the same way.

I had a horrible time with DC1. Not CS, but augmentation and forceps after having had contractions every 4 minutes for 72 hours. He turned out to be a fairly small baby, but back to back and I just didn't dilate.

DC2 was a huge baby. No complications, though he wsa also back to back, had him at home with just G&A. A doddle comparatively despite being 3lb heavier than his brother.

If you want to you can ask to review your previous labour notess if you still have any questions, someone can go through it all with you.

Good luck!
