Am I wrong to want a c- section-long post!!

Hi. I am on my fourth pregnancy but fifth child(previous twins). My first ds was a 3 day labour with cord around his neck, 2nd was a 2 dater long labour with twins( 2nd born breech). I was determined to make the third a good one, had a lovely midwife who insiste on brin at the birth, saw the same people all the way through & a 2 hr labour followed by a water birth. However this time I am terrified! We are in a new area that does not offer hospital tours, and have no relatives close. I am being monitored due to a cyst & previous bleeding after twins. I have found all the staff to be unfriendly & dismissive. I really don't feel confident with a natural birth again as the hospital us busy due to the closure of another unit. I have said I would like a c-section as I am worried about finding care for my other 4 ds's in the summer hols & my husband has a new job with difficult hours. I had Pnd counselling after the last & really didn't plan in having another but fell pregnant after my coil got stuck & had to be surgically removed.
I am stressing already!!
Can I insist on a c-section?
I am in the Kent area & my local hospital would be Darent Valley.

Find a doula, there is a lovely mnetter who is from kent who was on my antinatal thread arghh can't remember her name but I will find her!

If your wish is about childcare and concern about the quality of the hospital then possibly there are other ways of addressing it rather than having surgery in that hospital?

Are there any other hospitals that you could use other than the local one that might be more friendly?

Can't afford a doula at the mo in afraidSad
Should have shortened it to no childcare& no faith in hospital!!

Homebirth?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/04/2012 17:10

I was going to say home birth. You would be assured 2 midwives at the birth who would stay with you all the way through and your ds could even stay at home. Worth looking into surely? I had a (emergency) c section and it was not preferable to a natural birth :(

Dcs, not ds

Alltheseboys · 22/04/2012 17:51

Didn't think of a home birth. Don't know If I would be allowed though due to a cyst but will look into itSmile

Ooh, homeybirth, good idea. You never know though, you might find a trainee doula who would be good to chat things through. TBF I have found the Kent area midwives to be very consistent and lovely, although mine wasn't at my birth I did have a lovely lovely mw and I was really not looking forward to going to hospital Smile
If you are near Darenth look up Nicklebabes night at her shop, then you can meet some locals who might be able to help Grin

I'm sure you can get a ecs if you want to, and insist enough (I did).
However is minding the other children while you're in labour is a concern, minding them after the surgery will be just as big a problem!

Alltheseboys · 23/04/2012 19:07

Thanks guys. Igggi because it is the summer hols if I know when it is I can get my sister down but she lives too far to get here in an emergency.

Have you looked into local childcare - are there any local childminders who would might be willing to be 'on-call' for an emergency?
Or any friends or neighbours? Most people would be delighted to help out in this kind of situation, even if it was just to give your sister time to get to you.
