For those who had a short age gap between DC

I am just wondering if it led to the subsequent DC coming early or close to due date?
DC1 was induced 41+4. DC2 is due shortly after DC1's 1st birthday so hopefully in less than 7 wks DC2 will be here. With less time to sit down and rest as such this time I am wondering if all the energy spent chasing after a very active child will encourage DC2 to make their entrance to the world closer to their EDD or before, rather than be induced again.
Has this been the case for any other MNers?

I doubt there is much correlation, prob just anecdotal if you do hear of it. The no rest situation is not confined to having children close together; my toddler is 2.5 and much harder work than when she was your DC age! I'm not expecting to go into labour earlier because of this, will just be permanently knackered in the final few weeks of pregnancy!!

DD1 was induced she was so late and DD2 arrived 15 mo later without induction nearly 2 weeks overdue... I think that some people just take longer in pregnancy & I'm one of them. I don't think having a small child makes much difference. I worked full time & then when I started maternity leave moved house (which involved a ferry crossing and god knows what else!) & still had a v late arrival for DD2. tbh I was very grateful for the extra 2 weeks she stayed inside :)

DD1 was induced at 41+7. DS due 13 months later and arrived on his due date.

I realised that might sound quite negative.. on the plus side after a horrific experience having DD1 having DD2 was a breeze, and because it was so recent I remembered how it felt quite clearly & that meant I trusted my body (& ignored a midwife who said i had ages to go, i knew i didnt) & it was great!

As an aside, I was so busy with 2 DD's that DD2 first year is a bit of a blur, other mums with close age gaps have said the same to me. I have DD1's firsts all recorded, I couldnt honestly tell you when DD2 first rolled over or even crawled... ( and I so regret that :( ) if you are in the haze like i was then make sure DH is ready with the video recorder!!

Made no difference with mine, none were interested in coming out under their own steam...

The pushing bit was much easier though Grin

I have a 16mth gap. In both cases my waters broke two weeks early. I had a c-section with ds due to meconium staining and transverse lie, and a c-section with dd following three days of waiting for labour to begin and then induction with syntocin (I really really don't recommend that!).

Oh and I can't remember much of the early years for either child - I don't think I'd recommend a video camera so much as as much help as you can possibly source!

Thanks for the replies. My theory is obvious not proven!! Well we will see what the next 6-8 weeks bring so. Though I am still secretly hoping that working up to 10 days before EDD and my little crazy DC1 will encourage baba to arrive close to due date as opposed to induction!
