I'm due today with number4 and not even a twinge to hint that baby maybe on the way.

This is the first time I've made my due date..I have midwive next week and if I make that appt I'm undecided whether to sweep.

Can't believe number four is the latest to arrive!

I'm convinced that is what worked for me with dd2.
I had a sweep at 7 days overdue at 16.00 and was in labour by 10pm that evening,i didn't find it painful just slightly uncomfortable.
I would go for it.

Thank you, think i'm so scared of labour that it's tempting to not sweep but it's got to come out sometime!

I really want to go to the birth centre close by to me so need to avoid induction once I'm 40+10 I would have to go to CLU, which I really don't want and it's an hour away.

I had a sweep with both mine and I swear neither made the blindest bit of difference! They just came when they were ready (DD 40+10, DS 40+4) But, if I was in the same situation again I'd have another sweep - for the smallest chance it would start to get things going. At that point I just wanted them out out out!

Cutelittlecatlover · 22/04/2012 20:40

I had two sweeps and I'm convinced it was the second one that did the trick. Sweep done at 1pm, contractions started at 7pm, dd born at 9.30pm Grin

I would definitely go for it, if you end up being induced you'll always be wondering if you could have avoided the CLU!

EdlessAllenPoe · 22/04/2012 21:02

you don't have to accept either the sweep or the induction.

+10 seems a short cut off point for MLU access, as many areas are happy for you to home birth all the way up to +14 (presuming this to be the 'policy' and not specific to your case)

sweeps do reduce the chance of being induced though cochrane review.

I had no fewer than five attempted sweeps and none did any good ... I still had to be induced when I went 14 days past the due date! However, it might work for you and I didn't find mine all that terribly uncomfortable, so go for it if you are willing.
