Internal stitch not dissolved 4 months after episiotomy, any advice please?

Basically I had keillands forceps with massive episiotomy and tear 4 months ago. It got infected and never really seemed to heel right. Had check with private obygn at 7 weeks pp and it was too painful for him to examine properly but he could feel suture inside and wanted me to have it removed and do proper examination under GA. I thought this was extreme and didn't go back hoping it would go away... But it hasn't and i can feel the stitch pulling inside everyday. Recently had a smear and it was very painful. Will it dissolve eventually or do I have to have it removed and if so how do they do it, with scissors and local anasthetic?? I think the skin has healed round the stitch, is it stuck forever now? Anybody with a similar experience or advice appreciated, thanks!

I would go and get it seen to, personally. It could be as simple as a little nick and slip it out. Or it could be that you need knocking out and having it done that way. You just don't know. You can leave it like that though. It will come out eventually but it will take a long time and probably be quite painful

Hi, i'm in a similar situation although my DS is 8 months. I had keillands forceps too and i had stitching right up to my cervix. The external episiotomy healed fine but inside is still so painful!

I'd advise you to go now, since the birth was so traumatic i kept putting it off and off and it hasn't got any better. :( Forceps are so evil!

Thanks both for your replies, I guess I better get it looked at...

NoFood yes forceps are hideous, i am totally traumatised too. I would have asked for a csection had I known what damage they do. Hope you get sorted too!
