C-section: pain for how long after???

I had an elective C-section 14th of October, and still feel quite sore (stinging feeling) from the wound/scar. Doesn't seem to be infected. Same kind of pain as the weeks following the section. I suppose it is just the healing process, but I wouldn't have expected to be feeling this sore for that long... Spoke to doctor before christmas, and she said "Just healing." Hmmm...Would love to hear from anyone with experience. Thanks!

Poor you. That does sound like quite a long time to be feeling it, particularly if it's still as painful as it was immediately post-section. Is is a constant soreness, or is it when you move in certain ways?

I've had 2 electives, and by 4 months on I've pretty much forgotten about them both times - however, the stinging sensation does crop up from time to time if I twist strangely or just over exert (I had a 4 year gap between pregnancies and I still got some occasional smarting from the first section until I had the second). But not like what you're describing here I don't think.

I would go back to the GP, it's some time since you saw her (was it your 8 week check?) and get her to check you out.

Hi Danishmummy! My cs was on 21st October and if I overdo things like lifting or carrying then I do get an aching pain around my wound. It also sometimes itches quite badly too at the ends. It is still pretty red and lumpy. Wearing jeans seems to aggrivate it too.

If you are worried about it then I'm sure your doctor won't mind having a look for you.

Had just thought about starting a thread on this myself!.

Still getting pains in the scar area (cs on 4 October) If I press on it it still feels bruised and I get sharp pains like being stabbed with pins if I pull on it carrying ds etc. It does get quite itchy sometimes too

I only get it on one side though

I had a CS in April 2005 and the constant soreness faded away after a few weeks, but it still hurt if there was any pressure directly on the scar (like wearing tight jeans, or my baby kicking the scar) for several months afterwards. Even now, any hard pressure on the scar would hurt.

It sounds as if you are still having constant soreness now though, which I would get checked out by your GP.

I've had 3 cs, and don't get any pain with my wound/scar site. I massaged mine with lavendar oil daily as soon as it was healed to help reduce adhesions and sensitivity. In fact I wouuldnt know it was there if the kiddies didnt proudly point it out as their method of earth entry!

I had a e-cs 2.5 years ago and I still get sharp pains in the scar area every now and then. It was itchy when healing. My scar started out as a thin black line, like a pencil line and gradually became thick, red and raised . Probably explains the itching. But these sharp pains were not like the weeks after the section (not that I remember much of it because of the painkillers).

Oh, and I massaged daily with some kind of Neal's Yard Oil but that did not help ...

I still get twinges & my scar is sometimes very itchy afetr my C-section in June. My scar also looks very red - sounds like yours blueshoes. I've heard that it can stay like this for ages.

i had acute pain for 5-6 weeks after mine (10th oct) then it faded into a kind of numbness which is the same as when i had my first one (both were elective sections). I took arnica like it was going out of fashion, don't know if that helped? it hurts if i press it but apart from that it seems ok. I'd get it checked if i were you - 4 months seems excessive, although i have heard of pain anything up to a year

Had c-section on 18th September - it was just before Christmas when I no longer felt bruised. I took vitamin c and arnica - they seemed to help. I also tryed to avoid heavy lifting etc - but who am I kidding!

can't say I ever had terrible pain. Felt lots of nippy pulling when I stood up or rolled over in bed, for about a month. I kept moving right from the day of the op, brisk walks outside from day 5 onwards. Convinced this help me heal so quickly,
