Just wanted to compare experiences really. I had my 3rd cs 8 wks ago. The cs itself was quite uncomfortable and long unlike the 1st 2. Whilst it did take a little longer to get back on my feet after cs2, i wasnt expecting the 3rd to be so much harder. my wound finally feels ok but my tummy still feels tender and bruised.

how long did it take for you to recover fully? Anyone had more than 3?
i've been told it would be risky but im happy with 3 anyway.

I've had four. One Em, thre El. The first one was the worst to get over, I think it was all a shock, I'd never had any surgery before, so had no idea what to expect.
Number three wasn't fantastic as I had a 4 and 2 yo to look after, and I had awful constipation and a wee infection.
The fourth was my easiest, but the older 3 were all at school, so I didn't have to do much.

How old are your older two? Could it be that you're doing too much?
With it being your third cs, the op may have taken longer as they had scar tissue to deal with. When you say it was uncomfortable, do you mean you could feel it, or you generally felt uncomfortable?
AFAIK, it's fairly normal to still feel a little bruised 8 weeks on. (I still have an area on my tummy that makes me yelp if it's prodded, and ds is 14 months old)
If you are in a lot of pain, it might be worth getting it checked out to rule out any sort of infection.

I think to some extent it comes down to how you personally recover, some women bounce back and are doing two mile walks within a fortnight, others take longer to recover.

Congrats on your new baby :)

thanks!
dd is 4 and at nursery, ds7 and at school.dh is pretty helpful so generally i can take things easy. the op did take a while due to scar tissue. it was fine until dd2 was delivered but after i could feel far more tugging and my muscles felt stretched (hard to describe). towards the end they mentioned giving me a general if it took much longer. the worst part was moving me onto a bed. the anesthetic must have been wearing off as that really hurt.
my wound did get infected after which must have delayed recovery a bit. im just surprised what a big difference there was between 3+4, compared to 1+2. i have to say though the staff in theatre and on the ward were fab, much better than previous times.

thanks for sharing x

I've had four - one emergency, three elective - we're not planning on any more children but my consultant was happy for me to have another if I wanted.

The emergency was hardest to recover from - I had a PPH & wound infection & ended up in hospital for a week - second was easiest I was absolutely fine to do everything by the end of dh's two week paternity leave. The third was more complicated because I had trouble with the spinal & dd was in an awkward position, it took them a while to get her out. The last one was totally uncomplicated - baby born at lunchtime of Friday & I was back home for lunch on Sunday. Recovery took longer than my second, I was still doing everything as normal when dh went back to work but was knackered & went to bed as soon as he got home for the first month (looking after four kids including a disabled 4 year old & manic 2 year old on my own). dc4 is 9 months old now & the scar is already fading & I don't have any lasting effects from the sections :)
