Induction after previous cs?

Well just wanted to ask if anyone knew/experienced the procedure.

Is it common practice to induce labour after a previous cs?

Or would you prepare for a vbac and then if labour hadn't started give you a cs ??

TIA

Probably last option is safest if you don't want a c-section to start with.

Page 10 on this link will give you the risks:

Ultimately, though, it is what you feel you want to do - hope it goes well for you.

Thanks ushy

I think I want another elcs, induction wasn't very nice and labour went far too quickly.
Then again thinking of recovery time after a cs.

Thanks again.

I had a previous EMCS and was planning on having a VBAC or a ELCS if I didn't go into labour. I was booked for my ELCS at 40+9 yesterday, but when it got there I just couldn't go through with it for a few reasons.

  1. I didn't feel I'd had enough time to go into labour - DS was born at 40+16 after induction 2. The thought of choosing major surgery for the birth of my child just didn't sit right with me (although I appreciate and support anyone that makes this choice, of course) and 3. I was concerned about recovery and the impact it would have on my DH & DS.

I had a meeting with the surgeon who listened to my concerns and asked about my previous experience and now we are booked into her clinic on Friday (40+13) for a scan to check baby is ok then monitoring on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week. There is the option of sweeps on friday onwards but we haven't yet discussed the induction process. This was completely at odds to what the obstetrician told me last week, that they wouldn't let me go over 42 weeks!

Sorry this probably doesn't help much! I think the main thing is that every case is different (depends on reason for EMCS, pregnancy health etc), but also that every care provider is different. Do lots of research and be open to changing your mind, as things get nearer. Good luck Smile
