What are the risks of early induction?

I was induced with DS, at 40+12 and he was born at 40+14 weighing 11lbs. am thinking of pushing for induction at around 39 weeks this time as i had physio issues which took months to recover from after having him due to how huge my bump got (i'm quite short!). also had vasts amounts of amniotic fluid which is apparently normal with big babies so i really was massive by the end.

i know that early inductions increases the risk of c-section and other intervention but am wondering does anyone know by how much? are there any other risks?

also, over the 2 days it took 3 pessarys, 8 hours on syntocin and 20 hours of frequent contractions to get DS out so am wondering would it be the same, given that it'd be before due date or do you think my body might have some clue what to do this time once things get started?

Bump :)

Anyone know of any stats on early induction?

I don't, but I would be surprised if you had a request for early induction granted on the NHS if there's no clinical indication for it in this pregnancy (a big baby as a stand-alone issue, eg without GD or high blood pressure for example AFAIK won't be cause for early induction)

The earlier they try the less likely it is to work because your body and baby might just not be ready.

Perhaps try alternative measure of induction before you reach this point of being induced? I delivered at 38+ 6 with DD after 2 acupuncture sessions. Could be co incidence, but given that I felt all the text book things he suggested I may be feeling during the sessions I think not.

This recommendation comes from someone with a fear of needles btw. Acupuncture needles are totally different. Hair thin.
