What clothes to buy for after elcs?

I am currently 34 weeks and my low cut under bump maternity trousers are no longer covering my bump so need to get some more. I also realised that after a cs that under the bump trousers may sit painfully on my scar.
What is the best sort of thing to wear? Doubt I will be back in normal trousers for while so think it is still worth splashing out now on some more maternity ones.
Any advice?

Leggings. Skirts which sit above the scar (elasticated waist type). Dresses which unbutton for feeding / wrap type dresses. Pyjamas for at least the first week Grin.

I wouldn't personally buy maternity things at your stage, though. Normal leggings etc should be fine, maybe just buy a size up?

What nearly there said. And big pants like your gran wore which come up to your navel.

I had an EMCS and found these a god send, so comfortable and soft and also great to wear around the house, but stopped me from wearing PJ's 24 hours a day!

I also wore leggings for a few weeks, I just bought some cheapies in H&M in navy and grey.

I was fairly surprised how I didn't have a that much pain in my scar, it was more numb than painful.

Good luck.

Like midnight in Moscow - I have something just like this from m&s cost about £20 very soft and comfy

Can't recommend the roll-top trousers highly enough! It wasn't so much pain on my scar that was a worry for me, but the fact that is was so numb I may have damaged it with something digging into me without me realising!

Sainsbury's have some lovely soft ones for under £15, and White Stuff have some roll top leggings in at the moment. I wouldn't size-up, they're both pretty roomy IMO

Another vote for roll-top trousers here. I had a lovely maternity pair from mothercare which saw me through the final fortnight of pregnancy and then post section.

I also recommend getting a couple of vests (very stretchy or BFing ones if you are planning to BF) and long cardis. Yes you can wear your maternity tops to start with, but I found I felt hideous in them and actually I couldn't feed in most of them because the neckline was too high and/or they didn't have buttons.

I lived in soft jersey trousers in the house and under the bump maternity jeans out of the house. And granny pants, definitely!

Good luck for your CS Smile
