Hello, just wondering if anyone has experience of ELCS at this particular hospital with this consultant?

My second baby is due in April and I am considering an ELCS due to ongoing back problems (coccydynia) following the birth of DD1. Would be very interested in any feedback - what was your CS like? How were you afterward and what was the aftercare like? How was Mr. Pirie's ahem handiwork? :)

Thanks

Just re-posting as I need to have my decision made in about two weeks and am keen to hear anyone's experiences of this OB. Thanks!

Had my son at BWH but no experience of this particular consultant. That said I had a crash, it was a hell of a rush and I was left with an astonishingly neat and small scar.

I would feel v safe going there. And I had a fabulous BF advisor called Manjula who spent ages helping me - I'd have been stuffed without her.

They do make you get out of bed and queue for your food which is a bit of a struggle.

Take a toiletry bag that you can hang over a tap cos there's nowhere in the wetroom shower rooms to put anything. The bedside cabinets have little hanging rails so you can hang little baby outfits up.

Overall a thumbs up from me.

He's a really nice man with great communications skills. Had vaginal birth not CS so can't comment on his CS technique!

Thank-you, ladies, great to hear that you had positive experiences!! PicaK, thanks for the info about the post-natal ward and BF advisor. First Babba and I didn't quite get the hang of breastfeeding, so I'd be glad of the help with the new baby. Great news about your small, neat scar, too :) I'm just 6 days away now from meeting with the consultant ( or his team at least) to schedule things [nervous emoticon]

Hi, I've changed my screen name since originally posting this thread (obviously!) from Lunarlyte to MammaTonic.

I thought as I had posted a question about a particular individual, it is only fair that I share my experience. Mr. Pirie is an excellent consultant. He and his entire team were amazing on the day of my DD2s birth, 19th April 2012: professional and caring. If we have another baby in te future, I would want Mr. Pirie to be the one to deliver the baby.

I'm 13 weeks post-section now and have had no healing issues. The cut healed beautifully and it's now fading to a paler pink.

I'm sincerely grateful to Mr. Pirie, his team, and Birmingham Women's Hospital for the safe delivery of my beautiful baby girl. What a wonderful experience all round!
