Is it standard to be offered an epidural with augmented labour then?

Following on from the "well done" thread, seems like an epidural is the norm?

I am just interested because I had pints of syntocin once fully dilated for 4 hour second stage and wasn't allowed an epidural!

Meant to add that the second time I got the comment from the MW that I didn't "cope well with pain"!!! I don't know why anyone involved in delivering babies would make such comments...

I had pitocin and an epidural. The pain when it wore off was excruciating. Honestly cannot imagine why anyone would not be offered an epidural as pain relief. I was howling for one by 8cm. Howling!

thanks all for sharing! Interesting to see how experiences vary...what I'll never understand is why some MWs and doctors don't seem to acknowledge that it can bloody hurt rather a lot!
