What did you do when you were in labour?

I went into labour at 9.30pm while i was in bed reading a mag, i had full back labour no pain in my tummy, I was so tired i just wanted to sleep. My only regret when i was in labour was that i for some reason didnt go downstairs. I shouted down the stairs to my fella that i was in labour and ended up staying upstairs making trips to the bathroom for baths and use of toilet but didnt actually go down stairs until i went to hospital at about half 1.
I wish i went downstairs and did more instead of just try to sleep, and i wish i held out longer at home but i didnt have a very supportive other half and felt i needed to go to hospital so i was in the right place with support.

I feel really bad because i pictured myself going downstairs and saying "im in labour!" and i pictured pottering around the house but instead i stayed upstairs lay in bed and pottering around the bloody bedroom. I kept trying to sleep which made my labour longer because of lack of movment, i know im being silly because i did really well. Do you have any regrets when you went into labour? did you picture you doing something other than what you did? How long did you last at home? Was your partner supportive?

I seem to remember watching an awful lot of Open University programmes on the TV after I woke at 3am and was too sore to go back to sleep. DH went to work as usual that morning, returning around 3pm to find me cheerfully contracting in the bath.

We rang his parents for a lift, they weren't in, so we walked into the hospital. It's normally a 20 minute walk. It feels like it took hours as I kept on stopping but DH swears it was only about 40 minutes. Once in hospital it all went downhill. DD was dragged out with forceps at 10:40pm.

In retrospect, I would have delayed going to hospital a bit longer.

I have looooong early labours, then fairly short active labours.

DD1, started on fri night. Went to sleep, spent Saturday watching films and bouncing on ball, into hospital on Sat night, gave birth 7.15 Sunday morning.

DD2 started on wed night. Went to sleep, spent thursday at the park with DD1 and went to see my Mum. Gave birth at home 4am Friday morning.

DD3 started Friday morning, spent the day doing normal stuff with the DDs. When they went to bed spent a few hours knitting. Gave birth at 5.55 on Saturday morning in pool at home.

My contractions went from 12mins to 5mins so fast.

Didn't do much during that time. Only checked that my bags had everything for me and my baby. And said to my husband it's time to go.

Delivery was 1h 40mins.
