Hi,

AS the title says what does it mean ? I had to see anathetist, it is my second birth first was induced and I had pessaries,ARM then drip with an epi.

I want another epi and I tried asking if I go into natural labour when will I be allowed to have it but he was very vague with his answer muttering something about established labour. However when I got home on my green notes is says early epidural - what does that mean will I get one straight away or will I have to wait for 5cm+ etc.

I would take that to mean as soon as established labour was confirmed. However, also remember that no matter what is written in your notes, on the actual day it will still depend on the availibility of a bed on labour ward, a mw to look after you and an available anaesthetist. Depending on your unit and the activity that day, you may be able to get it as soon as you request it or you may have to wait and theres always the possiblity you may labour so quickly there won't be time to get one in.
