Even sillier CS question

Hi,

I have a CS booked for 4th April for my twins. Many people have told me I need big knickers for afterwards. I nodded wisely and thought, fine. But erm, I'm trying to buy/ think about buying said big knickers (at 30 weeks to obviously then stave off labour until my CS date Grin and have no idea what I need- maternity ones? support ones? bog standard 'full briefs'? And what size?!

I am lucky in that in my first pg I didn't balloon, but this time obviously the bump is much, much bigger. I'm bigger now at 30 weeks than when full term with my first... 2 sizes bigger??

Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm sure I should be abe to figure it out myself but I'm having a tired flap...

I bought mine two sizes too big and just bought standard knickers from sainsburys, but the belly warmer type, if you know the kind I mean?

One word of advice though - do try and chuck them away once the scar heals. I found mine incredibly comfortable and took a long time to part with them. Far longer than was necessary and DH used to take the mick out of them Blush

Go a size or two bigger - just enough to hold the ginormous sanitary towels you will be using! Good luck!!

I think I got a size bigger but what you need is the height otherwise the waistband elastic goes right over your wound. I think 'full briefs' is what you need.

For twins I went 3 sizes up last time as my stomach was so sore I didn't like material on it at all - was my 2nd set and I was massive with split stomach muscles too. Had the sizes smaller for as my belly shrank lol.

I just got bog standard supermarket full briefs and then threw them away.

Dearjane is so right. It took me a long time to be weaned off the big pants!!

Dontbugmemalone · 13/02/2012 11:00

I used disposable knickers during my stay in hospital and giant knickers thereafter.
As someone else wrote, it's a good idea to get knickers which maternity pads will fit in!

I got big granny bashers from Asda in a size 18 (14 pre preg) when I had my twins and they were fine. Came up over my belly button and were seriously comfy. And ugly for that matter!

DreamingOfPeace · 13/02/2012 13:52

ooooh, Asda granny bashers sound like a good option! I think a variety of sizes and I know I must throw them out when the time comes....

Now, onwards to that section date, I shall not labour before it Grin

I was given horrible white fishnet pants in hospital, by a midwife who told me off for wearing my own giant pants. They wouldn't let me use my own pads either. It was a bit odd.

DreamingOfPeace · 13/02/2012 14:02

how strange! I'd wear their horrible knickers if it meant I could throw them away and not have to wash them!!!

whispers.. I got a free trial of tena lady thingies - they were ace... no need for extra pads (which always dislodged themselves for me) and they were extra-supportive which was nice when the stitches started to dissolve.

I don't know if it's recommended.. and try not to let DP see though as hysterical giggling isn't good for anyone involved for a multitude of reasons.

luckysocks · 13/02/2012 16:27

Oh I loved my big pants too... tesco, 2 sizes up for me last time. And yes, I wore them long after I really should have done and had to force myself eventually to go cold turkey and put them in the bin.

This time I'm planning on Tena's as well... love the free sample idea. Need to get searching.

helsinkihelen · 13/02/2012 16:52

i used tena's too. much more comfy than mat pads, tho i found after both my CSs i only bled as much as i would have with a period (i think they clean you out as much as they can whilst getting bubba(s) out. Good luck. Both my CS's were fab experiences.xxx
