What do you mean by a dry birth?
IME this is usually when the water breaks well in advance of labour starting, so you have what is known as a 'dry birth'.

I had one of these at home and it wasn't any more painful than an ordinary birth when my waters broke well into the labour. I know someone who had hers in the bath!

I think that, as long as your previous two births were fine then anywhere where you are more relaxed, at ease and comfortable is bound to be easier both on you and the baby. If you feel relaxed and at home in the water then go for it!

sorry i dont mean dry as in what you have described, i mean dry as in not in a birth pool. A normal birth i guess, however i dont like using the word normal. So yeah just a birth on a bed lol. Really want a water birth but i am terrible when i comes to pain.

Don't worry. I'm bad with pain too and refuse to go and get a mole removed from my side because I'm scared of what will happen. I no longer go to the dentist because of my fear of them and I definitely don't do the courageous thing when I'm ill or in pain. In fact the only reason I had a home birth is because I thought they wouldn't let me, so I could say that I tried my best to have a home birth but the buggers didn't allow it. However my bluff was well and truly called and so I kinda had to go through with it. Also I had loads of people telling me that I'd never do it and I'm very stubborn when it comes to it, I HATE being told what I can't do.

I didn't do a pool as I hate being in deep water, but I stayed at home and managed really fine with breathing techniques. I went to some ante-natal classes run by the NCT and they really helped.

He came quite quickly so the pain was brief but looking back, I remember stupid things like the second midwife hurrying in and me thinking how rude it was that I hadn't said hello to her. I also remember the midwife telling me one last push but in my head was my NCT class leader who told me little pushes to ease the head out. I made a spot decision and decided to go with the MW. I gave it one last push - and I tore.

But I managed it all on just gas and air which is something I never thought I would be able to do. The stitching afterwards was bloody awful mind - much worse than the birth. So remember - little pushes to ease the head out work best!

Be relaxed, breathe through the pain and all will go swimmingly (geddit!) Wink
