Transverse/Oblique ... do you think I'll be admitted early ....

Any advice welcome. Am 37w on Tuesday ... saw Consultant 3w ago, at 34w, at which stage baby was still transverse. He advised that if Junior isn't longitudinal by 37w he'll be admitting me until delivery as there's a risk of early labour and cord prolapse with transverse baby.

Saw local midwife last week and baby has flipped. If you can imagine it as if on the face of a clock, the bum is at 10 to the hour and the head at 25 past - just to the left of pelvic cavity but not in or above it.

Is this close enough to head down/longtidudinal lie for me to get off the hook with being admitted? If not, anything I can do in the next 36 hrs to encourage Jnr to turn a bit more?!

Thanks

Is this your first ? If not, baby has plenty of time to engage. I would have thought baby is now close enough to being head down to let you be. I presume the consultant will check you before admitting you.

Millie my 2nd was transverse at 37wks and promptly turned herself around towards the end. I went on to have a perfectly fine home birth.
Hard I know but try not to worry, don't let yourself be pushed into anything but take all advice on board.
As the experienced Pupuce said it looks like bubs on his way around

Pupuce/Angelmother - thanks for responding and for putting my mind a bit more at ease.

... this is No. 2. DS was born by c-section at a few days off 40w due to being breech - turned back and forth up until 38w when he finally decided he'd be bottom first!

I'm living in hope that this one is close enough to the right position to allow me stay at home for a few weeks yet but knowing that I've 'only got' until Tuesday is driving me nuts - esp. when I know that DS did his final flip at 38w by which time (if consultant isn't happy with current position) I could have been in a week!

Pupuce - yes, am seeing Consultant on Tuesday and if he does decide to admit I will be asking for 1-2 days grace to make final arrangements for DS - we live 90 miles from hospital so important for me to make sure everything's okay here.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Millie - someone I respect a great deal has once told me that breech babies often are in mothers who are very worried... not saying this is 100% true - just a thought !

Thanks!! Interesting theory ... granted I am worried about this one but mainly cos of DS and had no worries before it went t'verse ... with DS, the fact that he was breech was like water off a duck's back! Who knows, maybe this little one is being a monkey knowing how much I want him/her to turn!!

I'm off the hook! The baby has turned again ... true breech this time (think it moved last night cos had a lot of discomfort) so it's looking more like c-section with no early admission (yeah!) - less than 3w and counting!

Thanks for all the advice.

Well .... seems like you can do them breech
At least you know what happens next

Sure can Pupuce ... would love to know why ... just coincidence or what? Apparently uterus isn't a wierd shape or anything. Seems like another big baby too - though I know that at this stage nothing's for sure in terms of size - last one was 9lb6oz.
