Sort of. First baby I got to hospital 2 1/2 hours before birth!
Second baby planned home birth but some bleeding so sent into hospital. She arrived in 59 mins!!!!

Yup, DD1 home birth, DTs arrived in 2 hours. Think hard about route to hospital and childcare at short notice, because second time round is always quicker.

Yes, I did. I was really lucky and had two fast and straight forward births, no complications The second one was easier in a way because I knew if there were no complications, like breech or something, I knew my body could do it so I was more relaxed. The first time it was all such a new experience I was much more worried.

My first labour went well, I got to the hospital at 6:30pm being 5cms. then DD was born at 8:33pm. I feel it went well and was most definitely speedy, only downer was that 2hrs after birth I had 1000mls PPH. (combination of big baby, small mummy, fast laour and intense pushing as waters didnt break until her head was coming out.) so i hope this doesnt happen again. but hoping its straight forward.. also DP is away right now, due back home the day before EDD .... DD was 5days late, so not sure what i should plan/do this time? as its probably going to be fast again?

Anyone had an easy first time, then hard 2nd?

IME yes. Ds was straightforward. Dd same but quicker.

AliceInVunderland · 01/02/2012 21:59

Dozey Thats exactly the same as me, the only complication I had was a PPH after the birth, like you said they put it down to a combination of big baby, small mummy, fast labour and my waters didnt break until the head was coming out either.

My second was much quicker, so be prepared for it to be fast and furious again!

Alice Wow thats crazy! I started having braxton hicks at like 18weeks with DD, and the same with this one (im 24+2) but they are more frequent already... not that thats much to go by. but I am kind of expecting it all to be quicker again, just hope its straight-forward again, no intervention again and au natural again. (hopefully have time to try the water pool!) just need to try and get as prepared as possible, as now i have DD to sort out. i just hope it doesnt come in the middle of the night!

Yes.

Dozey I was really bothered about who would look after my first whilst I was having number 2, had no family around and had moved with DH's job so no friends in the new area. Thankfully baby seemed to know this and I suddenly went into labour on the (only) day my parents were visiting, it was very convenient!

ChasingSquirrels · 01/02/2012 22:13

yes.
ds1: 2 hr labour, v straightforward, no tears
ds2: 15 mn labour, vvv straightforward, small graze (due to uncontrolled falling out I think!)

Both 3 weeks early.

With ds1 I had BH's from 19 weeks, which got v intense (5 or 6 an hour every hour) to the extent that I was hospitalised at around 31 weeks for steroid injections to mature the baby's lungs in case it came too early. As it was he didn't and was fine.
