Ds is now 2 but I want to look at my birth notes. Can I do that?

and if I can how? I think I may have seen them but can't quite remember all the details and it's a big fuzz and am starting thinking I might be getting broody again and I know I want to do a lot different to my labour with ds but want to get my facts straight. Sorry really long sentence there!
Any advice?

I went through my birth notes from my first labour when DS1 was two. My midwife arranged it, and I saw a consultant who read through them, helped me write a birth plan with DS2, and wrote in red all over my new notes. It went like a dream second time round.

Oh fab but I don't have a midwife as not pregnant Grin can I still get them (and how) or do I have to wait til I'm pregnant again? Glad second time round was lovely for you.

Thanks bellagio. Have had a nosy. Didn't realise there was a charge. How do I request them, who do I speak too?

I'm pretty sure you can download a form online. I'm going to do it soon. From what I remember from looking into it before it was the main NHS site (NHS choices?)

Thanks will have a look.

Should be easy enough. Find your health boards website and there should be details on there. I have just emailed regarding mine today and have previously accessed the post partum notes taken whilst i was in hospital.

I have just done this...and my DS is 2.5

If you had a hospital birth, contact the Health Record Offcer at the hospital for th firm and cost. Mine charged £25 for full copy of notes. The form was available on the hospital website but needed to be posted back as it needed to be signed and witnesses by someon who can confirm your identity. Good luck!

Absolutely you can.

If you have a look on your hospital website, there should be details of who to contact to ask for your notes. They will send you a form to complete, you send that back and then they tell you how much your records will cost. The amount varies depending on how many pages you need copying. There is a cap of around £50 though. I don't recall having to get anyone to witness my form, but this was over a year ago so it is easy to forget!

Mine cost me £40, but the information and comfort that I got from them was invaluable to me.
