When do they usually plan your C Section for?

I had a C section with my first, but it was a bit of a last minute thing as opposed to having an induction, and I was overdue.

I'm PG with my second with an EDD of the 22nd September so was wondering if theres a general rule of at how many weeks they book it in for?

(Have just got a save the date through the post for one of my best friends weddings a week after my due date! lol... I probably shouldn't save the date should I? :) )

I think it varies between hospitals. I'm having an elective section in two weeks and it is booked on my due date.

Thanks. It will be at Epsom.

I'm having an elective in a few weeks at 39+1 (according to their numbers...) - if however I go in to spontaneous labour after 37 weeks I will go straight to section.

I'm having a section due to a placenta 'blocking the exit route' (can't remember the medical term!) and because it's important I don't go into labour, I won't be allowed to go past 38 weeks, although I haven't had a date yet.

Mine was dead on 39 weeks and I've heard that's pretty common. I think NICE guidelines indicates it should be at at least 39 weeks unless there are complications that make that dangerous (e.g. babybouncer's placenta praevia).

Hey curious. My ds's edd was 20th September and my elective c/s was scheduled for the 15th (so 39 + 2).

P.S. I know what you and your dh were doing just after Christmas!

I'm having one this Thursday at 41 weeks.
I had a prior EMCS 2 years ago (for failure to progress after induction and foetal heart distress) and decided to try VBAC for this one but with the condition that if my waters went like last time and nothing happened I would not be induced and would progress straight to CS.
I was surprised to be given the 41 week date as thought 39 weeks was the norm for ELCS, however I guess the hospital really hoped I'd go naturally.

Mine was scheduled for 39 plus 3. Went into labour so had it 3 days early but all went smoothly.

I ended up having a planned c section due to certain factors (size, blood pressure, varicose veins etc) and the decision was made to go down this route at 38 weeks. Booked in for 39 weeks.

Chynah · 25/01/2012 20:04

#1 was at 39+1
#2 was at 39 weeks.

I had my 2nd c-section at Epsom Smile.

I wanted to try for a vbac, but was desperate not to be induced, so we came up with a plan that my c-section was booked for 41 weeks. Good job it was as the week before we were completely snowed in and if ds had arrived on his own timings the gp over the road would have had to deliver him as no cars/lorries/vans went through our village for 4 days!! Phew!
