So, i'm hurtling towards a c-section...

And i could do with someone to talk to about it.

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow and baby is still breech. Unlikely to turn round on her own as i have very little waters. They won't try to turn her because of lack of waters, and they aren't keen on my trying a breech delivery as i've had a previous c-sec and 3rd degree tear.

It's not the kind of birth i wanted at all, i'd really wanted a water birth as i'm suffering terribly with PGP/SPD, and believe a water birth would have helped with the pain, but diabetes and a host of other things have put paid to all that.

So, how can i have a positive c-sec experience? Will i be able to have skin to skin straight away? What about breastfeeding? And is there any truth to the rumour that you can be sterilized at the same timeas a c-sec? And if so, do they have to put you to sleep to do it?

I have had a previous c-sec, but that was 7.5 years ago and have had two vaginal deliveries since then.

Dee I had diabetes and a section and I was able to BF my daughter straight away. The section didn't affect my milk coming in at all, and although DDs blood sugar was a little loopy for the first 24 hours she was totally fine by the next day.

Have they given you a potential timeframe for your section?

Just wanted to update a little.

36+3 today, and baby is still very much breech. They insisted i try and ECV and lo and behold, it didn't work. Blob has her arse wedged firmly in my pelvis, and in the words of someone famous 'The lady's not for turning'

So, off to consultant appointment tomorrow and fingers crossed i'll be given a date for an elective c-section (hopefully soon as it hurrrrrts)

Am just trying to read up on bf/skin to skin in theatre etc.

I had an elcs last week, and was sterilized during the op. Think it took a few minutes longer because of this, but that was the only difference to my other cs. Had the op at 11.30am, ds was put onto my chest for the remainder of the time, bf in recovery with no problems, with lots of skin to skin, basically we were cuddled up together til I got the catheter out at 6.30, and got up and about. It was lovely! I also had diabetes and ds did have quite low blood sugars, had to have two small formula top ups on the first night, 35mls each time, but that was it, and he's been fine ebf since. Milk came in on day 3. Just made sure he was fed at least every three hours if he wasn't waking to feed himself in the meantime. All in all the whole thing was s fantastic experience!

Oh, I'm glad you are both ok. Smile I saw that you hadn't been on for a while and was worried

I'm glad you are both OK :)

Now - who do you think DD takes after Grin

I hope she's big enough/ready enough to come out soon!
