Its dire agony and like a severe battle, but we do it somehow. Isnt it amazing?

Whats the worst part of labour/birth for you?

mine is transition. when that happens, I lose the plot completely, get up and try to run away. I ran down three flights of stairs at my flat when I had an attempted homebirth 4 months ago into the waiting ambulance only to realise I was in transition..inevitably I pushed DD out in exactly 5 minutes on the stretcher. Mental. I hate transition so much.

Becoming pre eclampic as in nearly entering the eclamptic stage . Very frightening.feels very close to death .
That's the worst part.
Pre term labour is also rubbish too.
Not forgetting the bit where you go through the whole labour and then have to endure an emergency section.

Having stitches put in. The labour, the birth all fine but hated that tugging feeling as I was stitched and the anaesthetic injections in perineum.

On the plus side nothing in the world beats holding your newborn for the first time and if I could bottle the feeling of relief when the baby comes out I'd be a rich woman!

Yep - transition is a total headfuck tbh. I remember begging for someone to shoot me to end the pain with ds2. Mw accused me of being melodramatic. And yet after 4 I would do it again tomorrow just to have that moment when they place them on your chest again.

DilysPrice · 19/01/2012 22:55

I didn't do it at all, I'm not great, I'm rubbish.

Fortunately the nice men in white coats were there to do it for me.

And I'm quite good at growing babies, if that counts? The worst bit of the growing babies stuff was not being allowed Mr Whippy ice cream. Two whole summers with no Mr Whippy? And no peanut butter, which they now say wasn't even necessary!

MentalMuslimMummy · 19/01/2012 22:59

dilysprice you are great dont be silly, im glad you and baby are safe, thats why the men in white coats are there! why no mr whippy though???

lollystix, i wish i had got the nice feeling when they give them to you. twice I said something like 'get it off' lool how bad is that? I get my fuzzy bonding feeling a a few hours later (after Ive had a bath, done a self tan, and cleaned the house) im a bit weird like that.

Mr Whippy is banned in pg due to listeria risk Angry.

Ah there's the different between us mental Muslim mummy - I just look like an umpa lumpa with fake tan - no brand works for meGrin.

I'm not allowed anymore but seeing that 15 kids and counting the other day did make me broody - I think I'm a bit addicted to pregnancy and childbirth. It's truly awful (medieval really) but at the same time such an adrenalin rush and I just LOVE gas and air.

My vote also goes to transition.

Labour before that is tough but I don't mind it, pushing is okay, but my goodness the total lose of plot for what seems like enternity (in reality I know it's not long) is the pits.

However if DH let me I'd keep on having babies for as long as I was able, nothing like the moment when you're given your baby Grin

loss of plot Blush
