I was under CLC at the beginning of my pregnancy due to having a rectocele. DS's labour was fast and he got distressed by the speed of it and so had to be delivered by ventouse.

The consultant discharged me to MLC early on as she thinks my rectocele shouldnt make a difference to labour. I was discussing the possibility of another fast labour with my midwife today, and she said that (assuming I dont get any problems in pregnancy between now and then) she thinks a home birth would be best for me.

Does anyone have any similar experiences to share? I hadn't really considered a home birth before was worried at one stage that I would have to have a ELCS, but I'm starting to get quite keen on the idea. :)

I had a very fast labour too 2nd time. One hour from being 3 cm dilated to baby in my arms after they broke my waters. I am concerned about not making it to the hospital this time and the midwife did mention HB. However - being such a worrier - I feel much safer going to hospital. I had an appointment with a consultantBlush to discuss thus and he seemed to think that the reason why it was so quick was the artificial rupture of membranes. So this time I know that if my waters break I'm on a timer!
How fast was your labour and was there anything that particularly contributed to it being so quick? It may be worth asking to speak to a consultant about your options.

Forgot to say that HB works for a lot of people so may well be an excellent option for you too!

Well, homebirth was the plan with number one but it went wrong at the start (bleeding throughout labour) so ended up in hospital with a c-section.
I wanted to hb with number two but they don't recommend it with uterine scarring. We would have had a private midwife but we felt that being thirty minutes away from a hospital in either direction ruled that out. So I ended up having ds in a private birthing centre. And it was lovely. One of the midwifes made OH and I fried breakfasts when it was over with mugs of tea.
I can't think of anything nicer though, thyan just being able to snuggle with your newborn in your own bed. Not that it's worth having another one for!
If it's timing your worried about, I guess where would be preferable for birthing, at home or en-route (happened to my dad and step-mum with number four!)?!

All of mine have been fast labours.

My last birth was a planned homebirth, and the best thing about it was the knowledge that during labour I wouldn't have to do anything. No need to arrange childcare, or transport to the hospital.

To be fair, I was working on the assumption that if I needed to transfer, the midwives would arrange getting me there Grin.

I called my midwife because I wasn't sure whether I was in labour or not, and she dropped everything and was with me in 15 minutes. The baby was born within the hour, and everything was great.

I'd do it again tomorrow.

My 3rd was a planned home birth. All of my labours had been fairly easy and fast and I had been told by the midwife that I would be shoved out of hospital after 3 hours all being well so I decided to stay at home.
For me homebirth wad great. I was at the garage buying biscuits with contractions 6 minutes apart. Grin I was with my friend by the way she is a doula.
The big plus points for me was that I could have exactly who I wanted in the house. I phoned family and friends. Ate and drank as I wanted and the older dc were very chilled about seeing me labour before they went off to school/nursery. I did have a back up plan to have them taken elsewhere if they were upset or anything.
I was 6 minutes from rupture of membranes until birth which beat my own previous record of 41 minutes as my waters went pushing I the pool.
I loved the fact that I was in my own bathroom afterwards with all my own stuff to hand and I got onto a little nest on the couch after in my own house and never moved off it the rest of the day.
The older 2 were collected early from school and again I could have who I wanted when I wanted coming and going.
Don't get me wrong I had 2 fantastic hospital births but my homebirth was amazing. So relaxed and I had so much more control over it so a far more personal experience.

Like the post above, I had 2 hospital births and 2 home births. I much prefered the home births. Both labours were quick and I wouldn't have made it to the hospital in time. There was less upheaval for everyone. The midwife even hung my washing out for me. The main difference was the evening the whole family climbed on the bed and we ate chinese together with my new son sleeping in the middle (youngest) it really was a powerful bonding session for us all. Hope you will consider it,
