Raspberry leaf & painful contractions

Hey,

I am 39+5 and started taking raspberry leaf capsules yesterday (bit late I know). I took 2 capsules last night (it says to take 3-6 a day). At about 5:50am this morning I woke up with a really painful back contraction. It has quite high up, to the left, and was really really painful (much worse than the braxton hicks I've experienced over the past few months). I eventually managed to get back to sleep, and then at 6:40am I was woken again by the same pain but this time even more intensified. I went into the bathroom because I felt like I was going to be sick from the pain, but in the end I wasn't. The pain lasted about 20 minutes and then I was able to go back to sleep.

Has anyone else experienced this, is it caused by the raspberry leaf? Should I stop taking the capsules or persevere?

Since then I've been having braxton hicks fairly regularly too, and feel quite uncomfortable. I want to take the capsules because I know they are good for muscle strength, but also I am really put off by the pain!

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks x

The pains could be completely unrelated to the RL capsules, especially as you're full term.

At this point, they could be the beginnings of labour Wink

Agree with Fliss. Hope you've got your bag packed Smile.

Eeeeek I hope so! Would it be normal for the pain to come and go like this though? I've been having mild braxton hicks throughout today but nothing like it was this morning. I really hope it is the start of labour, I'm bored of waiting now!

With both of my labours I had contractions, and I'm sure they were because I could time them, for about an hour a couple of days before it kicked off properly. So I'd say, yes, it all sounds like normal labour and not the RLT.

Rl takes weeks to get into your system so it sounds more like the start of labour to me too
