Home birth & birth pool

I'm hoping for a home birth with DC1 in March and need some help deciding on a birth pool - I've had a look on homebirth.org but the 'Which Pool?' Link is broken, so I'm looking for MN recommendations here...

So I've seen the following pool options:
Gentle Water
Bassinet
Birthpool in a box
Others?
Pro's & Cons of each?

Only one I've used was a birth oil in a box. I was really impressed with it. Was huge, inflated really quickly and actually the 30 minutes to fill wasn't bad either when you think of the size.
The downside is obviously you have to maintain the water temperature yourself as it doesn't have a thermostat. Tbh that wasn't a huge problem and I only needed it warmed up once and that was just before I delivered ds2.
Plus sides I found were it did inflated and deflate quickly so I wasn't stuck with it up in my dining room until after the birth. I did inflate it and use it before labour as I was comfortable in the water bobbing about.
They are also fairly cheap I could buy one and keep it for the cost of hiring.

Birthpool in a box obviously iPhone auto corrected it.

I had a Birth Pool in a Box and can't fault it.

Haven't used it yet (due this week!) but we optd for bassinet for the following:

  • One of the bigger brands therfore good chance of getting a cheap unused one one eBay (which we did)
  • comes with all the kit, pumps and hoses etc
  • the floor is nice and squidgy and inflatable so no need to put anything underneath
  • good size
  • can buy a new liner for it

I think all the above points may be true for birth pool in a box also, but the mini one of them I thought looked a bit small

wrt the water temperature, I left the filler hose onnected to the hot tap and instructed my mother to turn it on occasionally. Where necessary, some of the existing water was bailed out to make space.

Birth pool in a box. Brilliant!

It wasn't the mini pool I had it was the bigger one. The floor is also inflated and it had a seat at one end as well which was great to lean on and lay back on a bit. You can also buy more liners for thebirthpool in a box. They often come up on eBay for a good price and spare liners direct from the company came really really quickly.

got a second hand birth pool in a box off ebay and will be buying a new liner which is required for inside. price was an issue for me or i would have hired a birthworks pool with heater and filter etc. they have a website and are also on facebook.
