Twin 1 breech at 32 weeks. Any chance?

Hello,

I have had 2 natural VB with first dds, 10 and 7 years ago, straightforward and uncomplicated.

I am
Now pregnant with twins dadc, and since week 30 twin1 has been breech.
Is there any chance that hd can turn around at this stage? Unfortunately I have been on bedrest since week 27 because of short cervix so imagine this is not helping!
Is there anything I can do bu myself at home to help him turn around? Consider I am in Italy so alternative medicind options are very scarce, besides, I cannot leave thd house so thats not an option. I'm really gutted at the prospect of a cs, I had such beautiful experiences with the dds I was very keen to have a repeat...

Any experiences of twin1 turning after week 32 anyone???

Many thanks!

Mine were breech and transverse at 30 weeks and I wasTold that it was unlikely that T1 would turn around at that stage as there wasn't enough space. The cons would consider trying to turn them.

I had them by CS at 34 weeks.

there is option of a vaginal breech birth too though? dependent on what type of breech baby is.
might be worth looking into.
breech doesn't always mean c-section, although admittedly I do not know if it being twins changes things in this regard

google mary cronk and "hands off the breech"

Thisisyesterday, I know I would never get prof here to agree to breech vg, it is only an option if twin2 is breech. I dont know if I would do it tbh, ita considered quite risky in case twin 1 gets stuck, and if thd des themselves are not comfortable themselves..,

But thanks for advice!

My twin 1 was breech around that stage, i got on all fours constantly!! He turned and both were born naturally at 36 weeks, good luck :)

ISaw3ShipsCatsComeSailingIn · 02/01/2012 11:45

My twin 2 was still turning somersaults at 35 weeks. I have no idea how he managed it...
Luckily he was head-down when they arrived at 36+3 :-)

Oh thanks Byeckets and ISaw3ships!! That is very reassuring!!!'
Better start getting on all fours!

claire - I've just thought. In my multiples antenatal class the midwife told us about a woman who's twins were both breech at 34 weeks and when she came for the next class, a week later, they'd both flipped to being head down - she didn't even feel them doing it!! So I think, even with less room than a singleton, they can still turn right up till your due date. Hope that helps. Smile

My lower twin was resolutely transverse and I ended up being admitted at 34 weeks because of risk of cord prolapse. He was wedged sideways and didn't move. I discussed options with my obstetrician and asked what would happen if I really wanted to labour, and he said that at a push they would induce, wait till I was fully dilated and then reach in and turn him. He did a movement with his hand to demonstrate, which made me feel dizzy! All this is whilst avoiding a cord prolapse etc. So a CS was the best course of action and I had them at 36 weeks. There are two girls in my twins club who had their first twin VB and the second twin turned and they had to have a CS for twin 2. Worst of all worlds! Hope you get the birth you want - I've had 2 CS and they were both painfree and lovely.

I will be! Stick to your guns if you want to wait a bit longer too to see if they move. xxxx

Thank you rednellie that us really lovely of you, I did know about the cats pose, I have also read about putting something colc near their head so they turn away from it, but not knowing exactly where his head is, I'm afraid of making dtg turn too!!

A friend of mine is bringing s homeopatic treatment from the uk too, trying everything!
Now, back on all fours!!

hi there
As you have had children before there is every chance you could suceessfully birth a breech baby
galaxy

claireinmodena · 06/01/2012 18:28

Thank you galaxy, thst is no an option here in Italy. They will not do it with twins as deemed too risky.

Often the second twin turns once the first is out and there is more room, but if you didn't have the option to birth him breech if he didn't, it's a moot point.

FutureNannyOgg · 06/01/2012 20:51

I totally misread that, and realised that was no help at all, sorry.

claireinmodena · 06/01/2012 23:03

Thanks futurenanny,

They would do vb if it was t2 that was breech, but not with first one, unfortunately I have t1 breech and t2 cephalic if only it was the other way round!!
