Perineal pain and trouble urinating after EMCS

Has anyone else experienced this? I had a 12 hour labour which ended in emcs due to the baby not being able to engage as she was in a funny position in my pelvis and brow presentation. I had a lot of vuval swelling afterwards which went down after 3/4 days and had a catheter in for 3 days.

Didnt have any problem urinating when the catheter came out but have found it harder and harder to urinate (now day 9) and get a kind of cramping pain in the perineum whenever i get up/walk/try to urinate.

Mw told me to get checked out with GP which i did and he ruled out any nerve damage and sent off a urine sample too. But no explantion of why this is happening and if or when it is goin to get bette.

Anyone else experienced this? Any tips to help me urinate? Or reassurance that it will get better! Thanks.

I had this!!! 36 hour labour back to back brow presentation and emcs. I was absolutely fine unless weeing. I had to truly truly bare down to wee and i had waves of panic that they had damaged me in the cs. It lasted maybe 2 weeks and then gradually improved. I can only assume it was bruising but i was really scared to be honest cos weeing was as difficult as pushing a stubborn poo out. I'm fine now about to have elcs in feb so hope it doesnt happen again.

I'm so relieved I'm not the only one. Like you I have been panicking that they permanently damaged me in the c section. Hopefully things will start to improve soon then as am 9 days post section. You're right it feels like trying to push out a stubborn poo! Weird because I had the opposite problem after a previous VB.

I came back to this hoping you'd have lots of reassuring responses but seems we're alone. I remembered the consultant telling me when i signed consent that there was a risk of damage to bladder or bowel and i was striken thinking 'shit, its happened to me'. It really did wear off and i can wee normally now, well as normally as you can at 32 weeks pregnant. But if yours continues go to the gp. I can remember the feeing vividly though cos normally you just relax and wee but this took physical effort like i couldnt locate the muscles to relax. I did wonder if it was combination of catheter as well as a head pounding your bits without descending down iyswim.

Thanks doctorswife I was hoping for more responses too! Saw MW this morning and she thinks it could be that I didn't notice the pelvic floor pain/spasm in the first days because I was on so many pain killers amd then when I started reducing the pain relief I could feel the pelvic floor spasming which made it hard to wee. I think it is getting better slowly but still imn quite a lot of pain. So fed up of complications - I seem to get them all!
