How long should you wait before getting pregnant after having a c-sec? Does anyone know?
And how many of you would suggest VBAC? They say that subsequent pregnancy/births can be a totally different experience thus making VBAC seem like an option that you could ponder over?
Anyone?

Also, in your own personal experience, what about age gap between the kids? What worked with your family?

I had DS2 19 months after having DS1 by c-sec. I think they told me I should wait 2 years after c-sec but I never really take medical advice too seriously as a doctor once told me they over state advice in terms of time to cover everyone generally. You know you own body better!

I tried for VBAC (and would certainly recommend trying) but unfortunately DS2 was in distress due to thick cord around his neck so had emergency c-sec. Which wasn't a prob at all - no where near as painful recovery as the first time.

As for age gap - everyone has good reasons for all age gaps - I like mine close in age - it is hard work - but they are already great playmates

I'm planning to try for a vbac. Had a cs in 200. There will be an almost 6 year gap between my 2. Hoping it will be fine for us - although wasn't planned.

The doctor told me to use contraception for at least 12 months - following my recent c-section as the scar needs 12 months+ to strenghten before another pregnancy. Best wishes

hi chacha, I had a c-section in dec 2003 and a vbac in dec 2005. They told me after birth of ds1 that it was best to wait at least a year before getting pregnant again, which I did. I would definitely recommend vbac, at least if the reason for your section is not likely to repeat itself. I recovered much more quickly this time around.
