I'm 39+1 and bored waiting for DC2 to arrive. I'm sort of ready though my suitcase is only half as full as the first time round. I feel like I'm missing something - have you got any must-have suggestions to take?

My pillow from home. Wasn't allowed to eat while in labour but by god the bar of chocolate I had packed was amazing in the middle of the night!!!
Also my fluffy bed socks were great in labour and are now in DDs memory box.

Definately my pillow. I also brought my moses basket as I wanted just born photos of ds2 and ds3 in it to go in a frame with the one of ds1 who was born at home. With ds3 I was being induced so brought several books and raspberry leaf tea. Came in very useful as waited all day for a bed on labour ward.

Own pillow, oh yes. Then my lifesaver was my own drink bottle. Camelbak with straw and bite valve, you dobt have to tip it up, just bite and suck, and it wont spill. I emptied it about 4 times in the last couple of hours and it was great after, while feeding etc. Can have in bed with you, no need to stretch.

I had a box of ice lollies. I was munching them between contractions. I had to scoff them pretty quick though as the hospital was so hot they kept melting!!

Ribena, seriously sore throat after gas and air.
Haribo.
Comfy, modal pjs
Cereal bars
Wet loo roll, you know, the damp sheets in a box. Fab for sore bits and keeping clean.

Whatever is in the bag make sure they put it somewhere you can reach it easily from the bed. I ended up with a catheter and as a result my bag stayed unopened on a chair about 4 feet away for ages as i couldn't reach it and there was nobody to get it for me.

DH made me a sweet little book of photos of our hol's to look at while in labour.
