Great, 9 days overdue and now I'm getting a cold... :-(

What to do!?!?

I'm already sleeping really badly, feel exhausted.
I'm supposed to be having a home birth but now I'm worried I'm just going to be too tired to labour properly.
I've got a second sweep booked for tomorrow morning and induction booked for Wednesday. Whats the chances of second sweep actually starting things off and what can I do in the mean time to pick my sorry arse off the floor and get back on top of things?

Don't know what miracle replies I'm expecting, think I just need some sympathy and support!
Everything started on time with DS, even though it went on to be a 5 day labour at least I was actually in labour, this is just so frustrating!!

DS2 arrived on his due date while I had a terrible cough and cold. I often think he got fed up with all the coughing and bailed out!

Sympathies-it's not nice, but my sweep worked.

AhCheeses · 25/11/2011 14:11

I do keep wondering if all my sneezing will 'encourage' him out! Grin

Did you find it harder not being able to breathe properly!?

I had a sweep on Wednesday and it was horrible but I'm so desperate now I wouldn't care if the MW said she was going to do them hourly for the next few days! Grin

Luckily my labour was very quick so the breathing wasn't too much of an issue.

The sweep was horrible. It felt like being lifted off the bed by my fanjo! Blush

Grin Yup, that just about sums it up nicely! I really wasn't prepared for how it was going to feel! I had such a sweat on my glasses steamed up! Grin

My MW said the baby is so low that my cervix has gone backwards, behind his head! Which meant she had to reach further round... eeek!
She did say that it was a good thing though, that when I did dilate it would be quick because he was already so low!
Don't know if she was just saying that to make up for what she'd just done to me though!

Do you mean an actual massive poo or a 'passing a baby' version...
I had a massive ahem clear out last night... is that a sign!?
Ohh you've made me excited now! Blush

It all sounds quite promising. You could be sneezing the baby out over the weekend!!

Well you weren't wrong!
Things got heated about 7pm as I took DS to bed, by 8pm the midwife was at my house calling for an ambulance, rushed to theatre with lights ans siren and our gorgeous boy was screaming like a little ball of fury by 10.20pm!
He's absolutely perfect, well worth the trauma and the lack of home birth!
Thanks for listening to my moan earlier, really helped xx

Thanks very much!

Sorry its taken a while to reply, been such a whirlwind the last few days!
His name is Carrick Alexander, weighed 7lb14oz and took just 1hr50mins to arrive!

Still running on adrenaline at the moment, picked DS1 up from school today and all the mums were laughing about the fact we were at the school Christmas fair on Friday evening, popped out a baby and back on the school run Monday!
I'm sure I'll come down soon and not be able to move by the end of the week!

Thank you. Its Gaelic for "rock", he was named after a town in Ireland where my Grandad is from.

Still feeling good, aching and shattered but feeling really happy and positive!
I'm not complaining, felt awful after DS1 was born.
