Would you be induced if you had a previous c-section?

Waters are broken, possibly since fri. I am due to have a c-section tommorow. I decided not to be induced with syntocin on doctors advice - i am not dilated more than one cm - but having second thoughts as really want to avoid c-section.

Doctor has warned uterine ruptire can happen without fetal heart beat indicating it would. And also infection can happen if waters broken for too long (ie doesnt want to wait till sun for spontaneous labour)

Any advice would help.

Hi Olek - sorry you're in the situation. Can't give any great advice except to say that I wasn't allowed to be induced due to previous section (for reasons you mentioned) so after a certain point another section became inevitable. Having said that, dd (second) had to come out early due to other complications so I don't know what the situation would be if my waters had broken etc. Wishing you all the very best. Curry's, sex, pineapple blah blah blah.

I was induced with syntocin for my second birth, with the first one a c-section. I really wouldn't recommend it! It was a horrible, scary experience and I ended up with a c-section anyway. Similar situation - waters broke three days before eventually I was induced. I never dilated more than 1 cm, after about 6 hrs of syntocin contractions. It was my choice to try for the induction, as I was offered a c-section straight off, but being very keen to have a "real" birth experience (IYSWIM) I opted for the induction. I'm not sure if it was horrible because of the previous c-section (16mths before), or if inductions are horrible anyway, but I really really wouldn't recommend it.

After my previous pregnancy ended in c-section, I was told by my obstetrician that it would be medically inadvisable to be induced in a subsequent pregnancy due to the risk of uterine rupture. I'm 36 weeks pg atm and if I end up in the same situation that you are facing, I'll go for the c-section without question. I've been induced twice now, the last time failing completely hence the section, and both experiences were horrid. I'd go for a planned section any day over that.

I was induced after having a previous CS - like you waters had broken - and nothing else was happening - they broke on Sunday afternoon - and I was given until the Wednesday afternoon for things to move on their own - they didn't so I a pessary (lovely ) to kick start it.

Won't lie - it wasn't the most pleasant labour in the world (but didn't labour at all with my first - waters broken and ended up with CS without any contrations ) - but I'd do it again over a CS any day.

No advice for your situation Olek, but just wanted to wish you luck and hope everything goes well today, if your c-section goes ahead.
