As the question asks really lol. Any beauticians out there who can tell me when is considered 'safe' to get waxed? I remember Ministry of Waxing in London saying there is a specific length of time before I can have one with them but can't remember how long it was lol.just wondering about more local salons really

Well a midwife with any sense will look at a naked pubis and feel very sorry for you.

first1 · 25/11/2011 08:58

Why is that, irn? Feel sorry for us?!

hellsbells76 · 25/11/2011 09:23

Oh Jesus fucking Christ this is depressing stuff. I just hope that by the time DD has grown up, this ridiculous fashion for bald fannies has passed. Or that at the least she doesn't get involved with some entitled wanker who gets the heebie jeebies at the very thought that women have pubes too!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 25/11/2011 09:54

OP bet you wished you'd never asked Grin

OhdearNigel · 25/11/2011 13:45

She'll probably feel sorry for a woman who has been so conditioned by the sexualised society to be even considering waxing so soon after birth. Not to mention the fact that a woman who has just given birth finds it necessary to try to emulate the genitalia of a prepubescent child.

I wonder how many men would be prepared to do a back, crack and sack at all - let alone after a vascectomy - just because "women like it" ???

Jesus, if a man can't get it up for the mother of his child because her vagina doesn't look like a porn star's maybe he ain't worth it.

And yes, I shave my legs, armpits and have a tidy bush. It just wasn't the first thing on my mind at 8 weeks postnatal

first1 · 25/11/2011 14:02

Err, I'm not the one who said 8 weeks postnatal. Read my post again and you'll see I had basic waxing 3months and hollywoods 9months postnatal AFTER I got checked by a gynae. And do I really care what people think about my own opinion? It's just that - my own opinion. Yes I pay £35 a month to "have hot wax poured on my bits" but no it doesn't hurt, yes my oh likes it but more importantly its how I prefer it. Amen.

Velvetcu · 25/11/2011 20:32

I don't wax because of sexualised society I do it because I like it and my bits most definitely do not look prepubescent!!

YULEingFanjo · 25/11/2011 20:51

How did you know it would be how you prefered it? I mean, what made you think you'd give it a try to see what it looked like?

musttidyupmusttidyup · 25/11/2011 20:53

I couldn't see to shave properly because of my big pg belly so just shaved the lot off.

Yule, I'm not going to continuously justify mine, or other women's opinions, to wax. It's the choice we've made for ourselves. Would you like to share why you don't wax/shave, perhaps?!

MrsOzz · 25/11/2011 23:34

Well midwives do chuckle at some super hairy marys out there. My two best friends are midwives and they have some stories to tell. One was so hair she could hardly see the head until it was completely delivered!

I don't understand ladies that shave their armpits, legs and veet their tash but grow a bush forest? So its ok to appear outwardly hairless to society, but not anything under clothes. At least I am true to myself through and through.

All this talk of prepubescent is nonsense. My waist, hips and breasts make me look like a woman!

Also why does no one make the link that MEN SHAVING THEIR FACES ALSO MAKES THEM LOOK PREPUBESCENT. And often only shave because it's what society does and because women prefer it? I rest my case.

first1 · 26/11/2011 02:08

Mrs Ozz, can we be friends?! Grin

I find it very strange that people are so judgmental on here about someone's grooming preferances. OP asked for advice in when to do it, not WHETHER to do it! I too had a bikini wax throughout my pregnancy. My daughter is 7 weeks old now and I am planning a trip to the salon next week. Not for my husband, he couldn't care less, but for me. For the same reason I am going to the hairdresser's next week and occasionally do my make up and get out out my pajamas. I want to still feel like an attractive, groomed woman, not just a harassed, tired mother with leaking boobs and baby vomit on my clothes.

ohdearnigel I never posted about my baby crying for ages as she doesn't! She gets grizzly but never cries. Also I would never get waxed for a mans preference! It's for my own preference.
My labour was an easy 3 hr one and I've recovered well.i just want to get back to normal life and begin to feel more like the old me.

Some of the replies/debates on here are harsh. Everyone has their own views. Just because I've had a baby doesnt mean I should not keep up my usual beauty routine.

lala29 snap!!exactly how I feel!! :) I had my hair done when DD was few weeks old to help me feel human again.DH doesn't care about state of my pubes either although does find them amusing lol.

Crazyalien, just go for it. I went yesterday after posting on here. I love the salon I go to, it's a bit of me time and a chance to gossip with the owner. It didn't hurt at all, unlike in the last few months of pregnancy and I feel so much better now!
By the way, for all those so anti looking after yourself, a bikini wax does not necessarily mean all off and could just be a tidy up, so please get into the 21st century and stop being so judgmental of smth so minor!

CrazyAlien06 · 27/11/2011 13:14

Lala29 totally agree! I ve just got to book it in now wooooo x

Oh that's not fair, my scar is still too sore!! Can't wait to be well groomed again Grin

LydiaWickham · 27/11/2011 19:50

I got mine done at 6 weeks, I regretted that and probably should have waited another couple of weeks, but by 8 you should be ok. Everything is a bit more sensitive, be warned, you might want to go for just a bikini line, not full brazilian for the first time back to it, another 6 weeks and it should be less painful again.

Thing is, if you've never waxed, then it would seem weird to do, but if it's part of your normality, getting it done does feel a bit like getting your old self back.
