Endometriosis and Birth...

Hi There.

I had a laparoscopy to treat very bad endo and concieved 2 weeks post op :), even the consultant was surprised.

My question is whether this makes me a higher risk for bleeding/ rupturing... I am due in Jan and still seem to have bruising round my belly button and a stretching sensation in this area where the stitches were. My Midwife thinks I will be fine and its just scar tissue stretching. I was given a low risk by the hospital (intending to have home birth).

I would love to hear from anyone with a similar experience of laparoscopy... or should I just go and see the consultant again to calm my worried head?

Cheers ;) x

I don't have endo but I do have two nice laporoscopy scars and an appendix scar which just stretched with my bump :)

My appendix scar stretched (and was the 1st place stretch marks appeared)

Good luck with you pregnancy Smile

I had laparoscopies in September and November 2010 for endo and fell preg in April this year. I also had a laparotomy in 2008. My scars all look stretched but otherwise ok :)

Thanks all. I was wondering if it will affect things internally, but I guess not :) roll on Jan!

Nope, at 33+4, my scars are holding up just fine Grin I did ask about c-section as an option with my consultant but she assured me it won't be necessary and there's no reason I won't birth naturally.

She also said that merely being is a massive help to endo and PCOS Wink
