Should I be nervous that my dating scan has put me futher on than I thought? Hoping for VBAC.

Hi,

I seemed to ovulate late in the cycle I got pg - I chart on FF and due date was calculated on there as 1 May. By LMP method it came out as 28th April.

My dating scan put me as 12+3 (ish - at work so haven't got info to hand) when I thought I was only about 11+4 and my due date has now been recorded as 25 April. I know FF charts aren't going to be amazingly precise, but I did have +ve on a OPK too so don't think i ovulated early enough for the due date recorded!

I know that it's less than a week, but it's just made me a bit nervous that it may affect what happens if the baby is 'late'. (DS was 9 days late so I know due dates mean bugger all really. :) )

I had an EMCS last time and am hoping for a VBAC this time around.

I went into labour spontaneously at 40+7, DS was born 2 days later by CS after ending up on a drip after labour not progressing. I got the MW to take me through my notes quickly and it looks like I got to 5-6cm, DS was at a funny angle apparently.

I won't be induced due to previous CS, the MW said sweeps will be offered from 38wks if I want them.

If you made any sense of that ramble, I salute you.

Just a bit concerned that things might move a bit quicker towards a CS if date is earlier I guess, not sure if I am being a bit mad? Blush

This has been bouncing around in my head for the last month since my scan and I just wondered if anyone could offer any input.

thanks in advance:)

I had this too. My dd1 was 11 days late and when I was pregnant they changed my due date a week later than what I thought it was. In the end I went into labour at 40+2 so maybe they were right?
They won't change it for you now but keep bringing it up if you go overdue.
Chances are you won't be AS late the 2nd time.
Good luck for your vbac. I ended up with another section but it was an amazing experience even so.

thanks. i do feel more confident even if i do need a section this time, at least i know what to expect and can ask for the screen to be lowered etc.

i will mention it to midwife at some point, but not going to worry too much :) (honest)

Vaginal Birth after Caesarian by Wendy Savage is a good book to read on this topic.
