3 weeks to go Just wondered, can you feel your baby moving at any point during labour? Its just that cause i feel it moving fairly often now, i wondered what happens during the birth? Does it just stop or are so so distracted you don't really notice. It seems like a silly question to bother the midwife with.

Mine got very excited when my waters broke but she was also still for long periods. I think as labour progresses they can't really move but they should be moving normally at the start.

I didn't.

The baby moves into position ready to come out, then your body basically ejects it Grin All you feel are the contractions.

I can only speak for myself.

I do think though, that probably the baby can't kick about much as it is being squeezed down a very tight tube Grin he/she is likely to be very cross btw. Mine were pissed off as hell, you could see it in their faces. Looking up at me with eyes full of "you, you bastard..." Wink

And please don't feel that there is ANYTHING you can't ask your midwife. No question you have is a silly question. Honestly. Smile

They do yes, but you're rather busy with the fact that your snatch is on fire and tend not to focus on it. Grin

After your waters go- if they do -movement feels very different.

When in labour with dd the midwife asked if she was moving normally. My head rotated 360 degrees and I screeched 'no she fkin isn't, she's tearing her way through my undercarriage'. The midwife had a bit of a word and asked me to focus on movement for a minute. I was surprised that when I forcibly ignored the labour for a minute or two, she was kicking away as usual, I just couldn't feel it while the labour was so consuming iyswim.

I didn't, I was too distracted. To be honest I hardly gave the baby a second thought when I was actually in labour, definitely a 'every man for himself time for me!

I felt the baby's head turn as she got ready for her body to be born just before the last contraction. That was when her head as out and it was pretty strange!

I don't actually remember feeling DS during labour, but that was probably because I was otherwise distracted! :-)

Yes, as soon as my DD moved down further and her legs were freed up a bit, she was kicking me hard, right in my stomach. Making my heartburn awful. Not what you need in labour!

Yes actually - great big flipping kicks in my side, right up until about 2 hours before he popped out onto the bed.

I remember being pretty incredulous that I could still feel him - until we measured his length when he was born - 97th centile Shock
