What's the wierd contraption that you can use to help support you in different positions in labour?

I'm due in 6 days and am just writing my birth plan Blush

At our antenatal classes we were shown pictures of this weird contraption that comes in a few parts and has a material sling thing coming down from it that you can use to support your body while squatting. Apparently it's available in the hospital.

It also has a birthing stool and birthing ball.

I want to write that I'd be interested in using this to support me in labour as I've had hip pain and it's supposed to be good for that, but I cannot remember what it's called.

Anyone know, or do I sound like I'm talking nonsense?

No idea, I had a weird contraption to hold me up in labour but it was my DH!

Hoist of some sort?
There was a birthing stool in my MLU, plus a wonderful two-level beanbag for supporting kneeling. The sling hoist sounds like what you describe but it was meant for getting disabled women in and out of the pool rather than for labouring with (and they advised it might be easier if I just brought an extra person to help move me as none of the staff had used the hoist in the last three years...)

Ah ha! Brainwave.

I watched the DVD tour of the labour suite again.

Apparently it's called a combi-trac.

Thanks for trying :-)
