hello,
Quick background, DS was born at 40 weeks +16 by emcs after induction (drip on full to get him moving only to get stuck and drop in oxygen)
So, I never experienced 'normal' birth or spontaneous labour/ contractions starting on their own accord.
Despite being symptom spotting obsessed (I'm only 35 + 5 weeks at the mo so a little early I accept) I have moments where I doubt my bodies ability to do it on its own. Something which I'm hoping you ladies can help with.
So, if you had a csec or an induction first time and then things happened naturally the second, please come and tell me about it! Just so I know it can happen.
Thank you x

I had a vbac last year. I went 40+6 had a slow leak of my waters, stayed in hospital for 2 days and slowly went into labour, they still used the drip but very low amounts and monitored continually. After about 15 hours in established labour I gave birth to my little boy. Healed really well, a lot better than after csection.

Thanks plant
I'm really hoping to avoid induction at all costs as I believe that was the reason for me needing a emcs in the end last time anyway.

Anyone else??

Hi tinky, I had an emcs with my first DS following a very lengthy labour which was due to him being back to back. However I had a successful vbac with my 2nd DS, despite the fact that he was also back to back throughout most of the labour.

I'm now 37 weeks and hoping that I will have DD naturally, but as long as she arrives safely that is all that really matters.

Goodluck, hope it all goes ok :)

had a planned c-section first time round as had placenta praevia. so never laboured before. with the second, I went to 40+5 (but this date was their date, not my date. my date was the date baby was actually born!!)... had lots of contractions for 4 days... eventually I got to 5cm, then had epidural (was too knackered over 4 days!!!)... body got me to 10cm, had an hour to push. had episiotomy and ventouse, but it was fine.

I know it sounds 'horrendous' but it really wasn't... recovery was much faster than with c-section, and perhaps faster recovery is necessary with a DC1 around! :)

good luck! hope it all goes well.

Hope all goes well - I was induced with DC1 after labour just stopped when it was too late to go back iyswim

DCs 2 3 and 4 all came of their own accord ( although nice doctor gave me a sweep at about the due date when I could have physically gone longer but was losing it a bit :) and DC4 was born about 12 hours later :o )

all the best!

Induced at 40+10 with DD. 36hr labour ending in emcs. Whole thing was awful and I had no positive memories of the experience whatsoever.

Had fab vbac with DS last year. Waters went at 38 weeks. Contractions started 10mins later. Remained regular and just got more intense. DS was born 2 hrs later.

Everyone kept telling me second time round things would be different but I didn't believe any of them. I lived in terror the entire pg that I would have a replay of first delivery. In the end, it was a brilliant experience. I had a 2nd degree tear but even so, I physically felt much better and was healed up and completely back to normal within 3 weeks. Emotionally it was a completely different experience and I was elated.

Very best of luck to you.
