Hi everyone, I'm due to have twins delivered my c section properly in the next 6 weeks.
As I have been in and out of hospital with steriods etc because babies seam to want to come out early, I have decided to pack my bag!

I have the usual stuff packed but was wondering of anyone would recommend anything extra for a c section?

I have 3 children all delivered naturally so this is a first.

I'm really nervous

I'm 2 weeks post 2nd emCS. Both times I found that "under bump" clothes = "on the scar". Pack big pjs/nighty for hospital and "over bump" clothes or dresses for going home. I spent almost all of last week in yoga pants and a stretchy T shirt qnd intend to carry on so for a while.

I took dried fruit and liquorice to nibble on to get my bowels going afterwards. Was terrified of pooing, but it really wasn't that bad.

Arnica tabs and Rescue Remedy for immediately afterwards, Bio Oil for scar once you can bear to touch it.

Take every painkiller they offer you (helps with afterpains and sore boobs too).

Do summon up the courage and energy to get moving again after about 12/24 hrs.

I found (both times) that the painkillers they gave me in hospital and to take home which contained codeine made me extremely constipated. I was given a big bottle of lactulose by the hospital, if you are, DO take it (it is a stool softener, very gentle, not a laxative). I didn't first time round and I regretted it

Also, when your partner leaves after the babies are born (in the evening) - make sure they leave everything close to hand as you won't be able to get out of bed unaided and you will feel like a dingbat ringing for the midwife to pass you a nappy Blush

I was very hot in theatre, dh brought in a damp flannel to cool my face down which was fab at the time.

deffo big pants so they dont rub on the cs scar

Definitely yes to big knickers.
Also tracksuit bottoms of the yoga pant variety which have an elasticated waist which comes up quite high. Normal tracksuit bottoms sit too low and irritate a C section scar.

Flip flops. Bending to put shoes on is a killer.

Hi, i am due to have 4th c section in 2 weeks and reccommend the big pants/arnica/constipation remedies. I would also suggest sticking a big pad sideways across your pants,so that it cushions your scar when you are moving around.

hold your tummy when you laugh/ sneeze etc and sleep with a cushion or 2 under your knees so that your legs are a little raised and you dont pull your tum whilst you are sleeping.

Dont wait for anything to hurt before you take painkillers as it can take a while to kick in...just keep popping the pills!
