Thought I had a show/ lost plug on Thursday am, but matters were a bit unclear (ahem, cos of morning poo Blush ). Definite show today at 2pm-ish, plus a bit of a little trickle. Strong BH from 4.30pm, but realized within about an hour that they prob weren't BH. Cue minor wig out about there actually being a baby coming!!

Contractions varying between 4 - 15 mins apart since 5.30pm, varying in intensity too. Just spoke to labour ward, who said come in when they're 5 mins apart or if you have bright red blood or reduced movements.

So now for the waiting game!!!

Had a bath, any other suggestions for passing the time? Smile

Rest, some light snacks and if you can't rest get walking, up and down the stairs sideways worked for me, or bouncing on your ball.

naomi79 · 23/10/2011 22:41

Oooo exciting Grin yep walk walk walk walk walk walk!! I walked for quite awhile went to bed 5 mins later 'pop' and waters came!!! Good luck Smile

DeliriousTante · 23/10/2011 22:54

Ooh good luck!

twoofus · 23/10/2011 22:59

good luck! passing the time ? talk to us on here, someone else going through labour is bringin back memories ! :o

MissusTulip · 23/10/2011 23:09

Thanks ladies! Nice and reassuring to chat online, DH is getting into a state of nervous energy (aided by some coffee Hmm, he may be staying up if I decide to try to nap!)

Still waiting to reach the fabled 5 min mark (lalala not thinking about how long that might take Wink) Needing to breathe for some of them...

Pumkin - was feeling sick all day and boaked my lunch back up but have been starving (since eating dinner!) and cereal has been scarfed!

Bit worried about walking as they're much much stronger when I'm up and about - yep that's a sign I should be up, and I will do after I get DH to slap the TENS on me. Only prob is I have awful SPD, so I can only do the walking thing for short periods... Bouncing on the ball is lined up for when things get stronger, I think?

MonsterBookOfHorrors · 23/10/2011 23:16

Oh good luck, walking will help keep them regular but with spd wont be very nice Hmm
Maybe the ball bouncing now instead of walking?

MissusTulip · 23/10/2011 23:30

oooh, TENS machine feels weird. Not like I'd imagined! (Tho TBH not sure really what I did expect...). Remembered my clary sage oil to sniff, while I go bouncy bouncy!

Bestest of luck to you. I just remember being very focused on the whole event - good job really as Daddy wasn't there for DS as he had to go back home to get my overnight bag! (angry) You go girl! x

Lugsie · 23/10/2011 23:51

Ahhh exciting!! Good luck!! Just think, this time tomorrow you'll be cuddling your baby Grin

MissusTulip · 24/10/2011 00:56

How are things this morning Missus?

MissusTulip · 24/10/2011 10:42

Morning, still at home, stuck around 8 mins between contractions with the occasional quicker one here and there. Sad Pretty tired tho did manage to nap between / thru contractions. Waters not broke yet, still passing gunk (yum!). Managing ok with TENS / breathing / painkillers but one or 2 of the longer ones have been grim...

Reckon I give it til lunch or mid-afternoon before I pester the labour ward again?

Any news?

naomi79 · 29/10/2011 22:32

I was wondering the same??!! Grin

MissusTulip · 30/10/2011 01:14

Yes indeedy, baby Adam born 416am on 25th october, hospital Internet blocked my attempt to post!

Contractions stayed quite irregular but got stronger and I had one (prob several run together) lasted 10 mins and after that we headed up and arrived at 3 pm. They felt I wasn't in established labour but my bp was up n they kept me in. They moved me to another ward, which led to an increasingly horrible of hours - they gave me oral painkillers but I was really sick and couldn't keep until down or find a comfortable position to labour in - awful pain and pressure in pelvic floor. After 5hrs, they moved me to the delivery suite, jagged me with some drugs that worked n gas n air but still only comfy standing pacing and my pgp went nuts. Epidural at midnight but by 3am baby was showing signs of distress n we went to theatre.

After a trial of pushing, Adam was born by emcs. I sustained 2 intrauterine tears and lost 1.4l blood, so it was a bit scary. My dh was there to witness first moments and get first cuddles and has barely put him down since. He was 7lb 14oz (baby not dh) a big long chap!

Gosh that was a bit of an epic update!

Thanks for your advice and support, ladies. As u know it's such a stressful n confusing time esp with number one (and probably only, given what a mare of a pregnancy, labour experience ((above is edited)) and recovery period to date). He is soooo worth it.
