Second Labour - 'real' contractions v BH? You would think I would know eh?!

Hi Knowledgeable ladies,

I am 41 + 3 with DC 2. After thinking I would need to be put in the circus as the lady who was pregnant forever, I woke up this morning with what I can only describe as non painful tightening. They have been v sporadic during the day. Now they seem to be getting stronger but no more regular. Now, I can remember contractions from the first time round hurting like holy buggery. These feel a bit sharp, but nowhere like last time.

Am I just more resilient to pain? Is this my uterus taking the p1ss? Please give me some hope that this may be real......

Thanks in advance!!!

Hello! Any news? Hopefully you're far too busy staring at your little newborn to be able to post on Mumsnet. Let us know soon though.

Have you slept at all? If not then i advise taking 2 paracetemol and going to bed. Your body may just need to charge up for the big event.

If you have slept then try some positioning techniques incase the baby is fidgeting around trying to get in to a good position. The spinning babies website is fab for that, just google it.

A ver deep bath and lie on your tummy, pillow at your head is a good one.

A nice walk if you are not tired. Distracting and also good for positioning.

Hope it all takes off soon for you.

Wow, well done, you are doing great. If you have a pilates ball then have a bounce on that to get things going. If you can face it...maybe some foreplay with your partner, I am thinking some lovely kissing and touching? Sorry if that is TMI!

I would also second a bath and/or a long walk, but keep your strength up!

Have a big bowl of pasta at lunch, it is slow releasing for energy giving. Also, my mate swore by jelly tots in labour to keep her going!

will check back later, good luck!

I am 38 weeks now largeginandtonic

Brilliant news Foxy! You sound very chipper for a woman at 4cm. Coping beautifully by the sounds of it.

Come on babyFoxy!

Yes, love that book, very inspirational. I am going to see my Hypnobirthing coach on Wednesday too. Just trying to get ready.

foxy wow wow wow! This is so exciting, you must instruct Mr Fox to post and let us know how you get on! 4cm and counting, you can do it! I bet you will be having tea and toast with your new baby in a couple of hours!
