Hi. I'm not sure I'm going to put this very well but here goes

I'm only recently pg with no. 3. Had emergency c/s with no 1 and vbac with no 2 but 3rd degree tear. Consultant has strongly advised that I have c/s with no 3 to avoid risk of a similar or worse tear.

I believe it's normal practice to be booked in for c/s in these circumstances around 38 weeks. Has anyone experience of getting agreement to wait until they go into labour before going to hospital for c/s? Just mulling over that I want this baby to be properly cooked and no 1 and 2 were overdue by 9 and 7 days respectively.

Over to you???

Jamiesam just read your first post again-poor you having emergancy csection and then 3rd degree tear! I really hope you have as good an experience with your elective as I did. I too really tortured myself about going down the surgical route-trying to weigh risks etc! I am so glad now that I did.
good luck XX
(my tear has healed ok-although as you no doubt know it will never be the same as it was!)

DH is terribly squeamish and did have to sit down for much of the rest of the day-whenever I broach the subject of another child he tells me that he couldnot go through another section!!!!!!

Not at all poor me - cs was fine, recovered well and although I was disappointed for a long time that I'd not done the natural birth mother thing, I came to terms with it when people pointed out to me that I'd got a very healthy baby out of it.

No regrets vis 3rd degree tear either - I was so pleased I'd actually done the vbac, and learnt from cs not to regret experience when I'd got another healthy baby. As you say, you're never the same again, but I'm OK.

Lol at your dh saying never again - the big girl! My dh also far more squeamish than me and hates my love of medical dramas - great way to get him out of the living room, flick onto Holby/Casualty etc
