How can I buy enough paracetamol/ibuprofen to stock up for after birth?

I have 3 local chemists in my area. 2 of them refuse to even sell me paracetamol as a pg woman and the third 'let' me buy some yesterday but when I went back today for more the pharmacist said no!
So frustrating, I have been instructed by my midwife I can take 1g para and 400mg of ibuprofen 3 times a day safely whilst Breastfeeding and want to get enough in to last me.
What is the alternative to me sending dp/anyone else I know into different shops every single day buying a pack of each?
Never heard of anyone having this problem before advice/ideas appreciated

You might be lucky. I had an emcs after a long and difficult labour (including an episiotomy, ventouse attempt and manual rotation attempt). I didn't need any pain relief after the birth but the midwife offered to prescribe it at every visit (or to get the gp to I suppose). She recommended cocodamol iirc but as I say, I didn't need it.

Even after my emcs I wasn't necking painkillers for more than a few days. After 2 subsequent vbacs I never had after pains so you may be lucky too. For stitches, i found things like warm baths very soothing. Having said all that, get your drugs from the supermarket Grin. Good luck.

Supermarket, self scan checkout. You can only buy two packs. Buy one each time you go. But you can get them prescribed you know :)

I had painkillers prescribed after dd1 (bad tear)
None after dd2
Maximum strength everything for weeks after ds (elcs)

I had bad headaches in all 3 pg, and never had a problem buying paracetemol anywhere.
Go to dr and get them prescribed? Get them in garage/newsagent/supermarket/online?

I'm another one who didn't need any pain relief once home from hospital. Was given supository of anti-inflammatory in delivery suite 20 minutes after birth (unpleasant but did the trick) and I took one dose of paracetamol that night. Otherwise had no problems. Hope you have a good experience too.

Tinydiamond - I wish someone had prepared me 2nd time round for the after pains, they were hell. I don't remember any from the 1st, but they got worse with the next 2. Each time I breastfed the contractions were much worse than the contractions while in labour. Be prepared is all I can say, you may be lucky like all the other posters on here, but I really wish someone had told me before I had ds2 about the afterpains.

I kept being offered pain killers by the midwives after i had my daughter, but although I'd had an episiotomy (due to foreceps delivery) I didn't need to take any, including paracetamol and ibuprofein. In fact, I was prescribed some painkillers when I was discharged but I didn't need them. So don't assume that you will need to take a load, you may be lucky like me :)

I switched to paracetomol from codrymol post cs because of the blocking effects of the latter. No chemist near us would sell more than one packet at a time because of the restrictions on selling more to stop overdose. 8 a day was my dose. Dh just went to different shops and chemists and bought them for me.

I can't believe they won't sell paracetamol to you!!! When I was preggers my midwife TOLD me to take some when the contractions started.

I think everyone is different with regard to need for pain relief. I has a c section and never really needed any at all.

however the most effective way to get around Britain's little rules about over the counter pain relief is to stock up whenever you're on the other side of the Atlantic. USA and Canada sell mega value packs, you can get hundreds of pills at once. Won't help you at the moment unless you have a friend travelling in the near future, but thought I'd mention for future reference.

Just to balance out all the people who didn't need them, I definitely did, for at least a week. I got through bad SPD without taking any painkillers and labour on gas and air, but needed the paracetamol afterwards. I only had a minor second degree tear with a few stitches and that didn't cause me any pain and I didn't have any afterpains. What did was very swollen labia, which meant I needed paracetamol to be comfortable walking and sitting. I just got people to bring me extra packets as I needed them though.
