Anyone had second baby after manual removal of placenta first time and how was it?

I had a manual removal of the (whole) placenta in theatre after my first baby. Apparently there is an increased chance of this happening again - I wondered whether anyone here has had this twice or whether they had a normal delivery of the placenta a second time after a manual removal the first time.

Congrats princess, nice to hear a happier second birth story.

Fairy - can I ask if you used a private midwife, my NHS one seems very against homebirth after rp in first birth?

When I asked my consultant about a physiological 3rd stage I was told it wouldn't work in my case due to how it was stuck, however it was my choice and he even mentioned a homebirth which I was suprised at as my midwife had said it wasn't possible!

Hello

I had a whole retained placenta with my 1st child and ended up in theatre to get it all removed. I then had my 2nd, thought all was fine until 2 days later when I fell ill and turned out I had some placenta left over. My 3rd child I was absolutely fine with it all but I've just had my 4th child and I had a whole retained placenta. Again went to theatre for a removal. I was very close with my last as they said it was very stuck and I was close to losing my womb. I want to try for a 5th but I'm worried I might have this problem again Sad Does anyone have any thoughts?

Read all this with interest as I'm pregnant with my second after having retained placenta with my first. The OB removed it in the delivery room which was horrible but over with quickly...really hoping it doesn't happen a second time.

Mumof4gems could you get an appointment to talk to someone about it as the answer might be quite specific to your situation.

@Kinsters I might just do that thank you.
