Does anyone ever go into labour during the day? Due date with DC3 and I've been assuming things will kick of at night, but maybe...???

Has anyone experienced waters going / labour starting in the daytime?

I am on my due date with DC3. DC1 came at 40+7, DC2 at 39+0, so I'm more than a tad grumpy and impatient.

I've been in some kind of slow labour for a few days - irregular but genuinely painful contractions (the type you have to concentrate on / breathe through), always in the small hours, then vanished by the morning, upset tummy, miserable and restless (and tired, because of all the broken nights).

I've just realised that I'm assuming I will not go into labour during the day. Both times previously my waters went at night, then contractions started slowly, then baby was born: 24 hours later for DS and 10 hours later for DD.

So, am I being daft / naive? I've sent DH out for the day, assuming nothing will happen.

With DS. Went into labour at 11am on thursday, he was born at 1:30 am Saturday.

Ds1 and 2 both started at about 11pm at 40+6 and 39+4. ds3 started about 11am properly (after loads of night time false starts) and came bang on due date

my first and 3rd did, all of them at home. my older kids went to sleep after lunch then my body realised that would be a good time to give birth, baby arrived 1/2hr later. had been niggling and twinging on and off for a couple of days but really wanted a daytime birth and reckoned during their afternoon nap would be a good time Grin

Labour started 5pm, baby born 8:15pm. To be fair I had quite a long nap about half an hour before labour began so maybe I thought it was the middle of the night!

Waters went at 9.30am, baby boy born at 5.54pm - first LO.
MW said I'd better be quick going in if I have another one as it would be very quick!

First set of twins waters went at 5am
second set of twins waters went at 12 lunchtime, both times nothing before except usual BH (had been having them for weeks and weeks) then waters went and POW the contractions were there and painful.

update: gentle BH pains started at middayish, exactly one week overdue. Baby was here by 10pm after less than 4 hours of labour. Daytime all the way!

Ds (dc2) show previous night, contractions started 1030 am, nice morning in the park, dd left with gp after lunch (feeling it by then) rang mw, all hotted up, ds born 515pm.

purepurple · 29/06/2011 20:52

Both mine were born during the day.

DS about 3pm After we had finished the weekly shop
DD about 1pm I had just returned from taking DS7 to school when I went into labour
Can't remember exact times. I was too busy to look at the clock.

Oh and congratulations Grin
